Gay Grooms On Wedding Cake

Since Proposition 8 was struck down in the Supreme Court, same-sex marriage is once again legal in California. Unfortunately, just because something is legal doesn’t mean that people are suddenly more accepting and open-minded about it.

Ken Bencomo of Rancho Cucamonga taught at St. Lucy’s Priory, an all-girls Catholic school in Glendora, California, and was head of the English department. Bencomo is gay and for 10 of the 17 years he has worked at St. Lucy’s, school officials knew his sexual orientation and had even met his partner. Yet after all this time, Bencomo was fired from his position just days after he married his partner, Christopher Persky, according to The San Bernadino Sun. According to USA Today, the school justified their decision, saying that gay marriage goes against the teachings of the Catholic Church. Officials apparently did not have a problem with Bencomo being gay, they just had a problem with him getting married to the person that he loves. Pope Francis: Who Am I To Judge Gays?

Pope Francis: Who Am I to Judge Gays?

Pope Francis continues to make news by making waves: for assuring the world that atheists can be good people, for blessing leather-clad Harley riders, and, now, for softening the church’s position on gay priests. With the ink barely dry on yet another big news moment (he racked up the No. 2 most-attended papal address on record yesterday), Pope Francis boarded the papal plane and gave his first news conference during his overnight flight back to the Vatican. This is the line getting a good bit of attention: “Who am I to judge a gay person of goodwill who seeks the Lord? You can’t marginalize these people.” Read more on Newser…

20 Fictional Women I Would Never Sleep With

20 Fictional Women I Would Never Sleep With

When I read the Thought Catalog post “20 Fictional Men I Would Never Sleep With,” I thought Chloe Angyal was on to something. So many pop culture icons are glorified as romantic figures, but in real life would be completely undateable. Rhett Butler was a rapist. Romeo was only 13. And Edward Cullen from “Twilight” … well, do I really need to rehash that one?

It got me thinking about 20 fictional ladies that I would never want to sleep with …  Keep reading »
