Unfortunately, an opportunity was completely squandered and Ice — nee Robert Van Winkle — did not name his lighting company Lights Lights Baby. Check out a couple of different videos featuring Ice talking rather passionately about lighting at the link. [Laughing Squid]
My office is not exactly an example of cleanliness and tranquility (once I left a half-eaten veggie burger under my easel for so long it started to grow arms and legs), but the scent of this Island Vanilla soy candle is so lovely and intoxicating that I can light it and close my eyes and forget about my cluttered, chaotic reality for a moment. I can take a deep breath and pretend I’m on some tropical vanilla-scented island, swinging in a hammock, without any risk of being attacked by an angry, sentient veggie burger. And that, my friends, is the sign of a really great candle. [$6, Pacifica]
It’s waaaayyyy too cold to leave the house this weekend, so make the most of your indoor time by transforming an old sweater into a cozy new pillow cover. The process is surprisingly easy, and when you’re done you can cuddle up with the fruits of your labor and take a nice, long nap. [Brassy Apple]
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s been in the news a bunch lately, so it makes sense that bloggers from all genres would want to capitalize off her name recognition. But the guys over at Homesessive have taken it to a new level of absurdity. They’ve fashioned a homewares slideshow with Hillary as its inspiration. Because, “with all of her travels, Hillary undoubtedly decorates her home with items from all over the globe,” reads the copy accompanying an image of lovely spinning globes you could procure for your sitting room or whatever. And because your love for H-Dawg knows no bounds, you can buy a couch in some of Hillary’s signature suit colors. What might they be? “Hillary seems to mostly sport a well tailored suit in solid colors like blue, black and white. [A] black suit with white piping is a prime example of Hillary’s refined color palette.”
Might this start a trend? Will we be seeing a Tim Geithner room makeover? A Thomas Vilsack garden renovation? Yeah, didn’t think so. [Homesessive]

Around this time every year I start wishing that my Portland apartment was a quaint, cozy cottage out in the middle of nowhere. Mason jars everywhere!). Until I can make my country lifestyle a reality, I’m determined to bring some of that country charm into my urban living space, and Etsy is a great place to start. As soon as I saw these recycled glass stacking bottles, my mind started racing with all the things I wanted to store in them. I think I’ll use the large set to keep oils and vinegars in the kitchen, and the small set to keep bubble bath and body wash in the bathroom. And then I’ll start stacking other things in my life, like shoes and candles and the baby goats I’m hopefully getting for Christmas. [$14-$19 for a 3-piece set, West Elm]
I just moved into a new apartment, and the state of my couch pillows is rather pathetic. With that in mind, I’ve found 12 decorative pillows that would look great in my — and your — living room. Click through to see them all!
Seriously, how lovely is this candle? Not only is it made of hand-poured soy wax, it’s infused with a subtle tea rose scent. Another reason to love it? Once it’s all used up, you can wash out the holder and voila: you’ve got a beautiful pink Moroccan print glass, perfect for sipping cocktails or displaying a few flowers. [$36, Market Street Candles]
It’s a soapdish! It’s a tub stopper! It’s … both! How cute is this rowboat-shaped soapdish, which is attached to a tub stopper on a chain? You’ll always have your soap nearby when you’re reading in the bath and look hella cute doing it, too. Now, if this darling little boat floats on top of the bath, too, that would just be the bees knees. Someone buy one and report back, please? [$15.99, ModCloth]
