As soon as I saw these recycled glass stacking bottles, my mind started racing with all the things I wanted to store in them. I think I’ll use the large set to keep oils and vinegars in the kitchen, and the small set to keep bubble bath and body wash in the bathroom. And then I’ll start stacking other things in my life, like shoes and candles and the baby goats I’m hopefully getting for Christmas. [$14-$19 for a 3-piece set, West Elm]
We’re all a little bummed out that summer is over, but hey, if you can ignore the rapidly shrinking amount of daylight, there’s a lot to look forward to about the fall, namely: pumpkin spice lattes, cozy sweaters, Halloween parties, and a whole array of delicious baked goods (just wait til you guys see some of the recipes I have coming up!). Whether you’re begrudgingly trying to accept the change of season or are welcoming autumn with open arms, I rounded up some awesome decorations and accessories that will bring a little fall flavor into your home. I love keeping single stems of flowers around the house because they’re beautiful, whimsical, and way cheaper than buying a whole bouquet. This awesome bud vase lets you choose three perfect stems at the flower shop (or, if you’re lucky, from you backyard garden) and display them together in a wire basket. Wouldn’t this be cute in a breakfast nook? Next life goal: knock out kitchen wall, create breakfast nook. [$17, World Market]
In my endless quest to de-clutter my house and become more like one of those minimalist Danish people that get featured in O magazine, I’m trying to keep household surfaces clear. Despite my best efforts, there are always a few necessities–sunglasses, pens, save-the-date cards, etc.–floating around my living room. This adorable fabric wall pocket is such a brilliant solution, and guess what? There’s no sewing required! Just pick out a couple pieces of cute fabric and stretch them over an embroidery hoop. I’m feeling more Danish already. [Abernathy Crafts]
This gorgeous collection of gemstones right here? They’re all magnets, which means you can bring some of nature’s colorful splendor into your home, and, specifically, stick it onto your refrigerator. That hot pink agate up at the top is just begging to display this week’s grocery list, don’t you think? [$36 for set of 8, Leif]
A kitschy kitchen is what I aspire to. Dinner conversation will cease to be dull with this pencil salt and pepper mill, perfect for the literary set. You got an “A” in English, but now you will earn top marks in seasoning. This shaker set will give even your most lowbrow dinners an air of sophistication. Just twist the eraser, season liberally and let the witty banter ensue.
I have one of Berkley Illustration’s awesome shark-wearing-a-suit prints hanging in my house, but now they’ve expanded their offerings to include this bottle opener featuring the world’s best-dressed great white. A quirky piece of art that also opens my beer? Yes, please! [$6, Berkley Illustration] Keep reading »
