Department Of Nonsensical: Suri Cruise In Heels At The Beach

So, everybody knows that walking in heels in sand is virtually impossible. So why in the heck would both Katie Holmes and her little girl Suri Cruise wear heels to play around in the sand? The pair were spotted all dolled up at a Memorial Day beach party in Malibu. Ladies, ladies, ladies! Sensible flip-flops please! You’re making my calves hurt just looking at ya! Keep reading »

Male Student Called Out For Wearing High Heels To School

A high school boy in Tampa Bay, Florida, was asked to leave school after he wore high heels to class. No, it wasn’t because other students made fun of him (which yes, they did). It was because the school had a problem with it. As one of the student’s friends explained, “He likes the way they make him feel. They make him feel more confident, and he just likes to wear them.” But, she continued, “The first time he felt shame was when he was called out of school.” School principal Bob Heilmann said he made the decision to have the boy remove his shoes because he was afraid the student would be bullied. “As a principal of a high school, I have to take the paternal side and make sure he’s going to be okay,” he said. “Anytime anyone goes out from, quote, ‘the norm’ or anytime anyone wants to make a statement, you have to be willing to take what comes with it.” What do you think? Should boys be allowed to wear heels to school? [Fox Tampa Bay] Keep reading »

Imelda Marcos would be so disappointed: the average American woman owns 17 pairs of high heels, according to survey of 1,000 women about shoes in ShopSmart magazine. Women bought an average of three pairs each year and while the likes of Imelda and Carrie Bradshaw spend $600 or more on designer heels, the average woman spends $49 on new kicks. The 9-Incher You’ve Always Dreamed About

As a woman with 70 pairs of pumps (and clearly, a bevy of shoe-fetishists for exes), I can tell you that there is no such thing as too high a heel! Nobody understands this better than British shoe retailer Parmars. Next year, they’ll unleash the Sky Heel, a nearly 9-inch platform for crazy shoe whores like me who date super tall men and have health insurance (just in case of a lil’ slip ‘n’ fall). The heels are being made in glittery red or gold (classy?) and retail for around 65 smackers. Kinda steep for pumps that’ll never leave my bedroom, but the look on all my ex-boyfriends’ faces when they see a pic of me in these will be priceless! Mwahahahahaha! Above, I have made a mock-up of what I hope the design will look like, but in 2011, the real deal will be revealed. The checkout line forms behind me! [SWNS] Keep reading »

There is one place they’ll wound you, though — in the pocketbook. These 5 and a 1/2-inch heels are $398. [I Don't Like Mondays] Keep reading »

What’s It Like To Walk In Lady Gaga’s Shoes?

What’s it like to be Lady Gaga? Well, you may never know the answer to that question, but Diane Davis, a fashion editor at StyleList.com, decided to find out how it feels to walk in Lady Gaga’s shoes — specifically, those sky-high boots with no heels that Her Royal Monstrosity has been seen staggering about in and sometimes falling in around the globe. First, the shoe facts. The boots are made by Noritaka Tatehana, they cost $6,500, and the invisible heel is nine-inches tall. One of the other women who tried on the pair took a spill, and Davis needed assistants to make sure she didn’t fall and crack open her skull. Her conclusion? These boots aren’t easy to walk in, but they sure are show stoppers. [StyleList] Keep reading »
