All The Looks From Paris Haute Couture Week: Day 4

Fashion lovers go wild for Paris Couture Week: nothing gets our pulses racing quite like the promise of seeing the impeccably-cut, fantastical creations of the most extraordinary designers in the world marched down the runway for the very first time. Today we’re ogling the likes of Giorgio Armani Privé, Alexandre Vauthier, Bouchra Jarrar, and (my favorite!) Elie Saab, right this way… Keep reading »

Paris Haute Couture Week Spring 2013: Day 3

We’re jumping in halfway through Paris Couture Week, but better late than never, I always say! Fashion lovers go wild for couture week most of all: nothing gets our pulses racing quite like the promise of seeing the impeccably-cut, fantastical creations of the most extraordinary designers in the world marched down the runway for the very first time. Today we’re ogling the likes of Atelier Versace, Christian Dior, Alexis Mabille, Giambattista Valli, and Chanel, right this way… Keep reading »

This just in: runway beauty be cray, especially when it comes to couture week. Raf Simons’s lovely cream-colored gowns and floral frocks at Christian Dior were offset by some serious bedazzling of the mouth. I’d usually gamble that this is the kind of look that won’t see life off the runway come spring, but then again, we are living in the age of Ke$ha. [Image via Style.com]

The Beautiful And The Boring From Chanel Fine Jewelry Anniversary Party

Let’s talk about Places I Wish I Had Been Last Night: Chanel fêted the 80th anniversary of their “Bijoux De Diamants” collection here in New York and, as one can always anticipate from an occasion hosted by the illustrious French fashion house, a host of starlets and socialites alike showed up in their Lagerfeld finest. Let’s take a look at the best (and slightly questionably)-dressed of the elite crowd…

According To NYFW, Black Is The New Black For Next Summer

Spring and summer fashion is generally pretty predictable insofar as it is, well, summery — think airy, diaphanous fabrics in light, muted colors accented by eye-catching brights, and you’ve just about hit the nail on the head every time. As the S/S 2013 shows crop up, we get a good glimpse at what to expect come next year … and is it just me, or is it all turning out to be a bit darker than usual? That’s not to say that the season’s requisite lightness, comparably more cheerful than that of Autumn/Winter styles, has been sacrificed in favor of deeper, moodier hues; it’s just that all of the whites and pastels are offset by a whole lot of black. I’m the last to complain — black is the predominate color in my wardrobe — so yes, I am unquestionably biased, but I think the contrast serves to make the clothes all the more striking. Are you, like me, thrilled that some of your favorite black pieces might just make the spring/summer cut, or are you all about the whites and brights come June, regardless of what the runway dictates? Anna Piaggi, Italian Fashion Editor And Style Innovator, Dies At 81

Today is a sad day in fashion as we mourn the loss of Anna Piaggi, 81, the celebrated Italian fashion journalist and glamorously eccentric sartorial icon best recognized for her visionary double-page spreads of image and text in Vogue Italia.
