Rodarte Heels Are Melting, Melting!
During New York Fashion Week, models galavanted down the Rodarte runway in shoes with heels that appeared to be dripping wax. These Nicholas Kirkwood creations echoed the show itself, which boasted a birthday cake-esque pile of burning candles as its central theatrical twist. Since the designers have suggested the models were intended to invoke ghostly apparitions and sleepwalkers, it’s only fitting that melting wax heels that glowed in the dark during the show’s final moments might light their way. Shoes For The 21st Century Cinderella
The Queens at Kingdom of Style turned me on to a new blog, (IN)DECOROUS TASTE. Created by 20-something Lauren Tennenbaum, the site is a super-luxe look at all things style-oriented, from interior design to fashion and all points in between. Or, as its editor describes it, “the blog is a documentation of the author’s artistic follies, and a collection of interesting images, interiors, fashions, anecdotes, design finds, and design books.” In addition to showcasing her adventures in the hyper-chic, Tennenbaum posts pictures of the exquisitely over-the-top high-heels she’s made herself. Finally, a celebrity admits that lookin’ good ain’t easy. Beyonce complains, “I’m always in pain! My earrings are heavy, and my heels are hurting — they hurt all the time. But you know you have to sacrifice for beauty. You just get kind of numb after a while.”

Platform Shoes Can Seriously Eff You Up
OK, ladies, I’m going as crazy for platform shoes right now as the next fashion-obsessed lady, but I will state for the record that I’m a heel wimp. When it comes to rocking heels, I may have a higher-the-better mentality at the moment, but to be perfectly honest, I probably wear elevated shoes about once or twice a week. So, personally, I was horrified to read some new statistics on our female British neighbors, and wondered if we have a foot health epidemic of sorts over here. In England, 200,000 women sought medical help for their feet, with 10,000 needing hospital treatment last year. More than half of these foot problems are directly related to high heels, and “over a third of women who experience pain in their feet are left with permanent damage.”
