Free Willy, who? Mila the beluga whale is officially the most amazing creature under the sea. Well, at least, under the pool. During a free-diving competition at the Polar Land pool in China, Mila noticed a diver in distress. On the way up from holding her breath at the bottom of a 20-foot-deep pool, panic struck diver Yang Yun because the arctic cold temperature of the water paralyzed her legs. She started sinking deeper into the freezing pool, and without any breathing equipment, Yang thought she was going to die. Until (cue heroic music), Mila the beluga whale swam over, put Yang’s leg in her mouth, and pushed her to the surface. Diving to the bottom of a 20-foot-deep arctic pool sounds like a recklessly stupid competition to me, but Mila using her beluga nose to help Yang to safety is nothing short of truly heartwarming.
