Dior Let Jennifer Lawrence Look Like A Real Human For Her Latest Miss Dior Campaign

Hey, Jennifer Lawrence, WHY YOU SO PRETTY? Jen’s latest ad campaign for Dior handbags is a far cry from her previous Miss Dior shoot, which was all kinds of Photoshop-chic. The divine Ms. Lawrence looks naturally lovely in these new photos, with little more than filled-in brows and a sweep of gold eyeshadow. Is that some actual skin texture I see? Perhaps even… freckles? Moles? Ugh, soooooooo pretty. [via Celebitchy]

It’s that time of year again. I’m not even going to say it. No, my friends, we are officially within reach of carry-all hour. It’s time to start singing the funeral dirge for your favorite summertime accessories, but fear not — at least one of these 15 fall-ready totes and satchels is bound to suit your fancy and ease the pain. Jil Sander Is Now Selling A Brown Paper Bag For $290, If That’s Your Thing

It doesn’t take much to brainwash me into buying something both exorbitantly expensive and totally unnecessary (see: anything that Anthropologie has ever sold), but I’ve finally found a ridiculous designer item that I don’t feel at all compelled to put in my cart!

Meet Jil Sander’s glorified brown paper bag. This sartorial innovation, otherwise known as “the next big thing,” is made from coated paper with some visible stitching, a couple of eyelets, and, of course, the requisite brand name printed at the bottom just to remind you that you are in fact carrying a $290 paper bag. And can you believe the guy at the bodega has been handing these things out for free all this time? [Gawker, Daily Mail]

If you were going to spend over $20,000 on a single one-of-a-kind handbag, what would it look like? Would it be frankly not all that great, like the $23,980 Farbod Barsum tote Christina Hendricks is carrying? See, that is the face of buyer’s remorse. She’s clearly grieving the two Birkins she could have bought for the price of that one fugly bag! [Celebitchy]

I’m usually drawn to classic bag shapes: the satchel, the tote, the messenger, the piranha. Yep, you read that right. The quilted pirhana is totally a classic in its own right. [$78, ASOS]

The Essentials: 5 Bags Every Woman Should Own

I love buying handbags, so I often find myself with a huge pile of purses and a lack of uses for them. My friends who aren’t so into handbags often try to make one bag work for everything, which means they’re cramming their laptop and gym socks into their shoulder bag. Since both ends of the spectrum could use some help, I’ve compiled a list of the five essential bags you need for a complete and functional handbag wardrobe. Click through to check ‘em out…

I’m not sure where to begin, because this bag is pretty terrible on all counts. The first glaring issue is that it’s ugly. So yeah — Australian handbag designer Kirrily Johnston collaborated with Special K (yes, the cereal) to create this purse following the brand’s “Handbag Exposé,” which found that 79% of women don’t carry a snack with them during the day. That’s where the bag comes in: the campaign claims that the special “Special K red” suede will serve as “a visual cue to help the 96% of women who think about snacking each day.” I don’t know what kind of statistic that is, but there it is. The interior also features a “Special K Snack Pouch” (I’m not making this up), a specially designed snack bar pocket. This bag is $750. You want? [Racked]

It’s February already? Fashion weeks are fast approaching, that’s for sure, and New York is the first up as always, with shows beginning on Thursday. Regretfully, one brand us Manhattanites don’t usually hear much from is Miu Miu, which shows in Paris. This year, though, things are different. How different, you ask? Well, we still won’t be seeing the collection strutted down the runway, but the brand is launching a (limited edition!) line of 46 unique handmade bags of 17 different material combinations using 12 different processing techniques, all to be unveiled in the big four fashion capitals (London, Milan, Paris, and NYC) during each of their fashion weeks. I know for a fact that a grand total of zero of these bags will eventually be mine, but my god, aren’t they glorious? Check out the hypnotizing gif of all 16 New York bags, courtesy of Miu Miu, after the jump. [Fashionista] Keep reading »

How To Choose The Perfect Purse

A purse is far more than a simple accessory. It is a practical carrying case, a way to express your sense of style, something to play with during awkward moments, and even a weapon in times of trouble. In fact, if I were going to write a post called How To Choose The Perfect Man, it would probably be half this long because that subject is not nearly as important. The thing about a purse is that you carry it every day, so it has to be comfortable, versatile, aesthetically pleasing, and good quality enough to endure rough commutes, chronic overstuffing, and harrowing public bathroom trips. Shopping for the right handbag can be a daunting task. Here are the most important variable to consider when you’re in the market for a new purse… Keep reading »

There’s A 9/11 Handbag

A purse to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks doesn’t sound like it should be right. But hear me out on this. Handbag designers Jen and Chris Mascali lost their father, Staten Island firefighter Joe Mascali, on 9/11 and they are donating the wholesale portion of proceeds from these handbags to the 9/11 Memorial Fund. It’s a slick red leather tote with fringe detailing, which includes a flame printed with the words “Each life is a miracle that changes the world and leaves it a better place than it was before.” It’s chic, tasteful and doesn’t, in my opinion, egregiously capitalize on a horrific event. Still, the idea of selling 9/11-themed products unnerves me and I worry about what other products are coming down the pike. Do you think 9/11-themed products are all tasteless or are you OK with them if the money goes to charity? [Refinery 29] Keep reading »
