And These Are Urban Outfitters’ “Halloween Costumes”

This Halloween season, American Apparel introduced its “Costume Builder,” which we found out was really just a way to pass off clothes you already wear as a “costume.” Turns out, Urban Outfitters has also launched a halloween shop on its website, and although the offerings are slightly more holiday-appropriate, it’s still a bizarre mix of items. As far as apparel goes, products seem to fall into three categories: Keep reading »

How A Makeup Artist Turned A Naked Kim Kardashian Silver

It didn’t occur to me until I saw this article on how makeup artist Gucci Westman (um, seriously?) turned a naked Kim Kardashian silver that the bravest among us females may be rocking this look come Halloween. So, how’d they turn Kim into the platinum version of Goldfinger? “I wanted it to look like Kim was dipped in silver, like she was liquid,” the artist said of her shellacking plan. All it took was some Kryolan Aquacolor silver body paint, Make Up For Ever silver powder, and a tablespoon of pigment in the Kryolan. Don’t have any of those ingredients handy? You can find them at Make Up For Ever. Of course, if you’re planning on leaving the house, you might also want to don a silver thong or panties and a silver bra or pasties. Boobs and booty not included. [W]

These Are American Apparel’s “Halloween Costumes”

We understand that since American Apparel is having financial troubles, the company might try to get creative with its ways to push merchandise. A product of this is perhaps the Costume Builder you’ll now find online. Except … it would appear that American Apparel’s idea of a “Halloween costume” is shockingly similar to the outfits the retailer normally peddles (which, to some, may indeed be quite scary). Above, you’ll find costumes for a “Disco Chick,” an “Archaeologist,” and a “Slumber Party” (which apparently can be manifested as a person wearing a scrunchy). To be fair, some of the other styling suggestions are a bit more traditional, like the hula girl, bumble bee, and pirate. So it might not actually be such a bad idea if you’re in need of a last-minute or easy costume and want to be able to wear it again–unless you cut it up like a lot of the themes encourage.

Or you could just go as an American Apparel employee. [American Apparel] Keep reading »

Rachael Ray As Jessica Rabbit

One of the costumes I was considering this Halloween: Jessica Rabbit. Too bad Rachael Ray beat me to it, dressing as the sexy lounge singer from the classic “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” while her hubby dressed as Roger. They donned the costumes for Rachael’s Halloween special, which will be shot and aired in 3-D. What do you think—is this look cute, or will it make little kids run and scream? Babies Dressed As Gnomes

What’s that sound? Your ovaries exploding. Behold Sloane, who is 4 months old, lives in New York City, and enjoys dressing up as a gnome. (I thought this was a boy, but Amelia says it’s a girl.) According to Ohdeedoh, Sloane appears to be part of an epidemic sweeping baby land in which cute babies are being dressed up as garden gnomes. Sloane’s mom made this outfit by hand, which is pretty darling. Who knows how long it will be before the hipsters pick up on this trend and gnomes roam Williamsburg? [Ohdeedoh] Keep reading »

Baby Gaga Is The Stuff Of Nightmares

Listen, no one loves babies more than me. And I especially love babies in Halloween costumes. But this baby dressed up like Lady Gaga is scaring the crap out of me. Most frightening little monster ever. [Brands On Sale] Keep reading »
