We’re not saying whether or not we’re wild about Lily Allen‘s new ‘do (we’ll leave that up to you), but she is definitely a Hair Model Citizen for busting out something, well, interesting. So she’s got the rock star platinum thing going on: really choppy, thick bangs and plenty of chunks of black. Now the only way to get this look—if you’re interested, that is—is to be prepared to do some serious damage to your hair. You’d have to bleach the whole thing and then separately dye the black, unless you already have black hair and you could just not dye a few strands. Film and beauty icon Sophia Loren won’t go changin’: She’s currently promoting a new film, “Nine,” and stepped out looking fabulous today. We were most struck that despite the fact that she has not changed her hairstyle in a few decades, it’s still totally working out for her. Huh. To get the look, you’ll need to find a hairdresser who still knows what a “curl and set” means. (Good luck with that one.) Basically, it’s the practice of rolling up your entire head of hair in curlers and either sitting under a huge industrial-sized hairdryer or just sleeping in them (ouch!). In Hollywood, a bob is a bob is a bob, which is why Dakota Fanning‘s ‘do in the new Teen Vogue gives us pause. Sure, we feel a little weird fawning over a teenager’s haircut, but this is a look that would work for any age. The key lies in the layers. There are none, see? It’s as if your typical blunt bob was grown out with just a hint of flip at the ends, and it looks sophisticated without being too precious. To get the look, print this pic out and take it to your hairstylist. Or just ask them to keep it mid-length, go easy on the layers, and blow it all out. Christ on a cracker, we don’t think we’ve seen more perfect hair ever. Some paparazzi yelled, “Hey Charlize, over here!” at the recent Hollywood Film Festival Awards, she snapped her head back, and boom, somebody could put this pic on a magazine cover. To get this look, you’ll need some seriously good genes, a killer set of baby blond highlights, and a conditioning treatment to make it look extra glossy and silky. Ask the colorist to use a balayage technique (that’s when they paint the highlights in) to get it looking extra natural and sun-kissed. If you’re just interested in the style, blow-dry, create an extra-deep side part, sweep to the side, and coat ends with just a dab of L’Oreal Studio Line Curl Smoothing Cream. “Ugly Betty” star America Ferrera was having an exceptionally good hair day at the “Save the Children” benefit last night in Soho, New York City. She skipped the way messy bedhead trend in favor of something a little more formal, but still managed to look cute and age-appropriate. To get the look: Blow-dry hair; separate the top layer on the crown; work in a bit of volumizer, like Matrix Amplify Full Body Texturizer; and use a rat-tailed comb to create some lift. Tie with a hair band—it doesn’t have to look perfect—then use a flat-iron to make the ends look silky smooth like they do here, which is a nice contrast to the more textured crown. I may have missed the Elvis craze, but ever since I was treated to a private tour of Graceland, I’ve been intrigued by the King. Obviously, intrigued is a far cry from obsessed, and you’d have to be to purchase this “large quantity of hair” for sale by Leslie Hindman Auctioneers of Chicago later this month. Apparently, this model citizen was shaved off his highness’s head when he was drafted into the U.S. Army and shed his famous locks for a military issue crew cut. This pile of seemingly innocuous hair is estimated to be worth somewhere between $8,000 and $12,000. For serious. To get the look, firmly press electric shaver to head and keep a broom close by. Nobody works glamorous, 1940s pinup-girl style like the one and only Dita Von Teese. She gets an honorable citation today for denouncing the modern trend of sloppy ‘dos by sticking with a classic formula that looks good on her every time. Here’s how you can recreate the look: Treat slightly damp, towel-dried hair to a dose of Redken Crystal Curls Defining Shine Gel. Divide hair into multiple sections (about two inches each), and roll into large curlers, securing with bobby pins. Either go to sleep (if you’re doing this overnight) or use a blowdryer to completely dry your hair. Remove curlers, part to one side, and touch up with hairspray for hold and to smooth flyaways. We seriously can’t wait for “The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus” to come out, but for now, we’ll settle for its star, Model Citizen Lily Cole’s outstanding hairdo. She could’ve gone for a perfectly polished blow-dry (like the ones we’re beginning to see on the red carpet again), but we like this toned-down version. To get the look, blow-dry until it’s almost there but the ends are ever so slightly damp. Work a cream stylant like John Frieda Straight Fixation Smoothing Creme into the ends and twist large sections (about four total) around with your fingers. Sarah Paxton is filming “The Beautiful Life” and she is giving me a serious case of nostalgia in terms of remembering that evil blond cheerleader that totally ruined my life in high school. (OK, we didn’t have sports and it was art school and everyone was really nice.) But! This hair is, like, traditional pretty, pretty princess hair that’s modern because it’s got texture and it’s just slightly messy. To copy this bitch’s perfect hair (I mean the girl, not the dog), apply Garnier Fructis Style Soft Curl Cream to slightly damp hair, twist large sections with your fingers, and allow to air dry.
