Not many of us can get away with wearing a pumpkin-orange blazer and make it look effortlessly cool. Pumpkin orange blazers seem the territory of like, bank middle managers, or Cedric the Entertainer. But I dunno, I’m revising my feelings toward them, thanks to Gwen Stefani’s outfit right here. She looks great, and kind of punk rock, but also seasonally appropriate. Let’s steal her look, shall we?

Gwen Stefani showed up in London today wearing this jumpsuit, and while I think she looks totally fierce, it’s such a utilitarian garment that I couldn’t help but do a side-by-side comparison with this beaming stock photo model who is pretending to be a mechanic. So, whose look do you prefer?
I’m like a magpie as far as beauty products go — I’m drawn instinctively to anything bright, sparkly, bizarre, or beautiful — but when it comes to what I put on my own face, I’m an unlikely makeup classicist, and I most definitely stay inside the lines. At the S/S 2013 Prada show in Milan, models (like Jessica Stam, left) walking the runway sported fluorescent red lips that erred ever-so-slightly outside the natural barrier, resulting in an overall effect that’s more cartoonish than chic (wax lips, anybody? I ate a fair few in my day. Spoiler: they are disgusting). General consensus seems to be that this exaggerated lip look is best left to ’90s pop stars — like, say, Gwen Stefani, who showed off a similar shape at the iHeartRadio Music Festival. Frankly, I wouldn’t be caught dead in it. Would you?
“I’ve always been a girl who loves to dress up. I already put my makeup on twice today: I put it on to take my kid to school, and then I went home, washed my face, and put it on again to have lunch with you … I like to make my husband like me more, and he likes it when I’m wearing makeup.”
–Gwen Stefani makes the surprising admission to Harper’s Bazaar that her husband Gavin Rossdale actually prefers it when she wears makeup. Pretty much every guy I’ve ever known has belonged to the “less is more” camp when it comes to makeup, but I’d love to hear from readers on this one: do you wear makeup for the benefit of your significant other? Do they like it when you wear makeup? I definitely like feeling put together for my boyfriend, which, for me, includes a bit of makeup, but I shudder at the idea that some concealer and a swipe of mascara would make my partner “like me more.” [Harper's Bazaar]
If anyone in the world could pull off a skintight leopard-print suit, it’s Gwen Stefani. That being said, I would have loved to see this suit with a sexy black tank top under the jacket instead of the matching shirt. As much as I love the silhouette, it’s a little too reminiscent of a “sexy leopard” pre-packaged Halloween costume. What do you think? Is Gwen’s outfit totally fierce or does it fall flat? Gwen Stefani’s cute three-year-old son Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale (that’s his full name and I love it) has grown to be such a little towhead, mama’s bottle of bleach not necessary! Gwen took Zuma to the beach in Santa Monica and the little nugget went nuts playing in the water. I miss being a kid and being allowed to play in those park fountains. I tried to go to the one across from my apartment the other day and got dirty looks from all the parents. Sad face.
