It’s officially September now, which means it’s time to reflect on how we spent the dog days of summer. Did you have a good summer? Did you make boozy popsicles? Did you smile broadly while wearing a sunhat the size of a Mini Cooper? If so, good work! Want to know what I did this summer? I saw a lot of men wearing tank tops and I had complicated feelings about it.
Seriously though, I think 2012 will go down in history as the Summer Of Men’s Tank Tops (SOMTT for short). I mean, men have always worn tank tops, but this year the trend really caught on, and suddenly sleeveless shirts became a totally legitimate clothing option for regular dudes, not just mega hipsters and Nickelback fans… Keep reading »
I’m a pretty big fan of the colorful jeans trend–the brighter the better!–but this morning, when I saw a guy rocking a pair of bright red skinny jeans, I must admit I did a double take. I hadn’t realized the trend had also been translated to menswear, but a quick online search revealed that colored denim for guys is most definitely a thing. After my eyes had adjusted, I decided I’m a fan of the look. I always love to see guys taking chances with fashion and adding more color into their wardrobe. What do you think of colored denim for men? Love it or leave it? [$90, ASOS]
These Jeffrey Campbell wedges defy the laws of physics and gravity and all that is right in the world, but apparently that doesn’t matter: even at $200 a pop, they’re sold out. Judging from the enthusiastic reviews, they’re a hit with female customers, but we were curious about what the Man Panel would think of such a strange little shoe. Their candid reactions after the jump… Keep reading »
Dear Justin Bieber’s Pants,
Sometimes I wonder what life must be like for you. I mean, just a few years ago you were making cameos in YouTube videos and today you’re probably the most famous pants in the world. All eyes are on you, and people are talking: “What style of pants is Justin wearing now?” “Who’s trying to get in his pants?” “Who wears the pants in his relationship?” “How does he get his pants to stay up?”
And that’s what I’d like to talk to you about: the whole “staying up” issue… Keep reading »
The product description for this ModCloth maxi dress begins as follows: “‘Every block of stone has a statue inside it, and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it,’ the great Michelangelo once said. Certainly, he wasn’t talking about this dress…” Luckily for us, our Man Panel certainly is talking about this dress — read on for their always candid, often hilarious, and sometimes poetic opinions… Keep reading »
These Jeffrey Campbell stacked bow wedge booties might be the most ridiculous shoes I’ve ever seen. Which means I want to own them. NOW. But enough about me — I couldn’t wait to hear what the Man Panel would think of a pair of shoes so unapologetically frilly. Check out their always candid — and often hilarious — opinions, after the jump… Keep reading »
Free People is selling these post-apocalyptic-style platforms for $198. A little steep, sure, but I’m kind of taken with them — I love crazy footwear and would totally wear these with black tights and a summer dress. Wondering what guys think about strange shoes? Whether you’re looking for a way to clearly label your own Mr. Darcy, subtly hint to your partner that he (or she) could be a little more Darcy-ish, or maybe just send a heartfelt gift to Colin Firth, this “I am Mr. Darcy” T-shirt is just perfect. [$22, Brookish] Keep reading »
This Topshop tasseled maxi skirt takes the fringe trend to, well, the max. With its tie-dye top section, I wouldn’t be surprised to find it in our Coachella style roundup, but that’s about the only situation I can imagine wearing it. We asked the Man Panel what they thought of this uber-bohemian look, and here’s what they had to say… Keep reading »
