Straight Grindr Is Here

If you have gay male friends, you’ve probably heard them mention Grindr at least once, if not a thousand times. For those of you not familiar with the app, it uses GPS technology to track other gay men in your vicinity available for “meetups.” Basically, you can look on your phone and find out which men are in the same bar, on the same block as you at the same moment. You can check out their stats and photos, chat, and decide on a meeting place if you choose. According to one of my single gay friends, this app has “revolutionized his dating life.” Another calls it “a slutty hookup heaven.” Soon, we’ll be able to draw our own conclusions. Puerto Rican Senator Maybe Caught On Grindr

It’s been a month or two since we had a good political sex scandal. But you didn’t think those politicos had cleaned up their act or learned what a terrible idea it is to text/email flirt and/or take sexy photos of yourself, did you? Of course not! The latest scandalize involves Roberto Arango, a conservative politician in Puerto Rico. He has resigned from his territory’s Senate after some images that look an awful lot like him appeared on Grindr, the notorious gay cruising app. One of the images shows a man sans shirt, wearing a necklace that Arango has been photographed with. Another would make Anthony Weiner blush. It shows a man naked and on all fours, taken in a mirror from behind. Grindr: The Booty Call iPhone App

My hot friend/man slut, Eric, who gets more booty than a pirate, has made me swear to keep his big gay secret for months. But over the weekend, I got him to tell me everything he knows about the techie version of cruisin’. Or as he put it, “Fine, you can tell the breeders about Grindr.” Yay! Grindr is an iPhone application for those looking for one-night stands. It will show you photos of potential hookups and map out the exact location of men in your neighborhood just looking to get in your pants. Well, not our pants, perse, since it’s “The go-to place for gay, bi, and curious men to meet.” Sigh. On the upside: “Location-based Grindr is FREE, FAST, and FUN.” Sounds promising, no? If Grindr were to cross over to straight users, would you use it? [Grindr]
