Last night was the Grammy nomination special, featuring performances by the likes of Nick Jonas (solo for the first time, though his brothers did introduce him), Maxwell (who is hard to listen to when all I can think of is this picture), and LL Cool J. (How is he not around more? I love this guy, “Deep Blue Sea” aside.) But the real story of the night was the ladies of music land. Beyoncé led the pack, with ten nominations. Taylor Swift followed her with eight nominations. And Lady Gaga picked up four. Let’s just hope that the world has been so fully saturated with Taylor-Kanye-Beyoncé jokes and recreations that they won’t try to do any more come the Grammy Awards on Jan. 31. [Huffington Post]

Here’s an update on the Chris Brown saga. Brown turned himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department around 7 p.m. yesterday. According to one website, Rihanna was spotted at the LAPD Wilshire Station with bruises on her face, but at this point, that’s just a rumor. Brown’s being investigated for felony battery. He posted $50,000 bail and was released. He’s due in court on March 5.

So, here’s the Grammy scoop. Both Rihanna and Chris Brown were scheduled to appear AND perform at the Grammy Awards tonight, but at the last minute, both canceled. Why? Chris Brown is apparently being investigated on an assault charge, for allegedly beating on a woman at 12:30 this morning. The woman’s name has not been released, but many are speculating that the victim was Rihanna. This is totally unconfirmed, I am just trying to keep y’all informed of what’s known and being discussed so far. [DListed]
