I understand that if you’re Misery Raccoon Taylor Momsen, you’re life is not necessarily about making sensible choices. This is a rugrat that left a lucrative and high profile career as a “Gossip Girl” to fulfill her rockstar fantasies as a singer in a band. Mental note, Taylor: Most of us just play Rock Band, you know? That said, she’s proven that her music thing is more than just a passing fling; Momsen is still rocking out with her lady cock out. Here she is filming a new video for fellow musician Tomomi Itano (she’s also of the Japanese mega-group AKB48), in deeply inappropriate shoes and a perilously short dress that could double as a wee rainproof tent. Does anybody still watch “Gossip Girl”? I feel like every single person who’s on that show hates it so much and they’ve all pretty much acknowledged that the series needed to end already. So what do we spy here? Is that little Jenny Humphrey — aka Taylor Momsen — all dolled up for the finale? It seems the misery raccoon has returned to her home nest, straight off some horrid Pretty Reckless tour or other, to film one last time with Blair, Serena and LonelyBoy. And P.S., those Louboutins are crazy. [Photo: Fame/Flynet]
So this is kind of a bummer: Taylor Momsen, ex-”Gossip Girl” ingenue and lead singer of the Pretty Reckless, strips down naked in this spoken word video … and the lyrics are pretty heavy. She’s definitely getting nude to signify the rawness of the words, not to be “sexy”; the words, which come from her song “Under the Water,” are quite disturbing. With lyrics like “If I cried unto my mother / she wasn’t there for me / Broken lines across my mirror show my face all red and bruised / And though I screamed and I screamed no one came running / I wasn’t saved from you,” it’s hard to tell if it’s just more of her bad girl posturing (see: egregious black eyeliner abuse, performing onstage with Marilyn Manson), or a genuinely concerning video. I wonder what the rest of the cast of “Gossip Girl” would think. (Video obviously NSFW.) [Huffington Post]
Several of the stars of “Gossip Girl” have openly admitted that they’re kind of phoning it in at this point (see also Penn Badgely on Dan Humphrey: “It’s a gentle release with him.”), which is probably why Ed Westwick’s taking up other interests — like modeling. Westwick’s been a spokesperson for K-Swiss and Filipino line Penshoppe, and he’s now the face of designer Philipp Plein, which is why you can catch him in Plein’s latest runway show and in the designer’s latest series of ads. Check out Westwick’s ad for Plein after the jump!

“I’ve stopped wearing makeup when I’m not working. For a while I thought I had dark circles and bad skin, and then I realized I was seeing myself that way because I didn’t recognize myself anymore without makeup. Now when I wear it, I think I look really weird!”
— Surprise, Leighton Meester is as far from her “Gossip Girl” character Blair Waldorf as humanly possible! This is so true — as someone who wears a full face of (admittedly light) makeup from when I wake up in the morning until I wash it off before bed, I’m sometimes appalled by my own foundation-free face because I’m so used to a false sense of perfection. I like to skip the spackle on the weekends so that I don’t forget what I look like. Leighton is on the cover of Lucky’s July issue, where she also talks about shopping for clothes at garage sales and thrift stores, and falling in love with everyone she meets all the time. A girl after my own heart in so many ways! [Just Jared]
A-ha! So that’s why we’ve been suffering through some horrible Dan Humphrey hair on “Gossip Girl” this season. Penn Badgley wants to look like … John Mayer.
Um, 2007 called — it wants to tell you who “Gossip Girl” is! See, 2007 is the last time I actually would have cared about “Gossip Girl”‘s secret blogger scandalizing the Upper East Side by publishing everyone’s dirt. For five whole seasons, “Gossip Girl” has pulled the bait and switch pretending to reveal his or her identity. Is it Eric? Is it Eric’s boyfriend? Is it Dorota? (Puh-leaze let it be Dorota.) It has taken 100 episodes of Gossip Girl’s signature sign-off — “And who am I?! That’s a secret I’ll never tell. You know you love me.. XO XO Gossip Girl” — to reveal her identity once and for all.
Drumroll please … Keep reading »
Did you get the text? “Gossip Girl” is fulfilling more than a few girls’ dreams by launching a “Gossip Girl” clothing line. The show is partnering with Romeo & Juliet Couture to produce an exclusive line inspired by slutty-ish Serena and buttoned-up Blair. Of course, this isn’t the first time the gals of GG have been immortalized in fashion; back in 2009, Anna Sui did a diffusion line for Target that riffed on S and B’s looks, but this will be the first official collaboration. The line debuts September 26 and ranges in price from $80 to $200. Sadly, none of Chuck’s fabulous cravats will be included. [WWD] Keep reading »
Why are all these other people in this “Gossip Girl” blooper reel? A perfectly fine video would have been the world’s sexiest Brit, Ed Westwick, struggling to pronounce words like “favor” in an American accent and failing adorably. Penn Badgely and Chace Crawford roughhousing is pretty cute, too. [YouTube via NYmag.com] Keep reading »
Last night, during the season four finale of “Gossip Girl,” Cecily von Ziegesar, the author of the books the show is based on, made a surprise appearance—Headmistress Queller introduced her to Serena van deer Woodsen as they brushed past each other at an alumni benefit. I believe this was the perfect time for Cecily to make a cameo, since “Gossip Girl” has gotten really, really good the past few episodes. Why? Finally, the show’s spotlight isn’t shining on Serena and one of the 98,000 paramours she’s had on the show—in fact, she’s single at the moment. The action is about Blair and Chuck, who I have always thought are the most interesting characters on the show, hands down. (If you haven’t watched yet, SPOILER ALERT.) Keep reading »
