Found It!

The Easter Bunny came early this year to the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden for the annual gorilla egg hunt, the first for gorilla baby Gladys. The one-year-old baby made national headlines last year when she was rejected by her biological mother at zoo in Texas; she is now being raised by a surrogate gorilla mommy in Ohio, with whom she did the Easter egg hunt. It looks like the baskets were popular as hats. Silly gorilla, that’s not what you do with an Easter basket. [YouTube]

Look At That Face!

This baby girl gorilla, born on Wednesday night at the San Diego Zoo, needs to be cuddled immediately. She. Is. So. Cute! Her 18-year-old mother went into labor but was not making any progress, so veterinarians at the zoo delivered this little cutie via a rare C-section. In no time at all, the 4.6-lb. gorilla was wearing a blue baby hat, sucking on her fingers and mugging for the cameras. Congratulations to mom and baby and to whomever got to swaddle her in a blanket and give her an oxygen mask to chew on, I hate you. [Washington Post]

Meet baby Kabibe, an gorilla at the San Francisco Zoo who was adopted by clan matriarch Bawang. She’s serving as a surrogate mother for the five-month-old baby gorilla, which at this point means lugging the baby around on her back. You know, like mommies everywhere. Aww! [Laughing Squid]

Baby Gorilla Learns To Walk

Is it weird that my uterus is totally spasming over this video of a baby gorilla — named Tiny! — taking its first steps at London’s Zoological Society? I mean, we’re both primates so it can’t be that weird that I wish I could give birth to a baby gorilla of my very own. It’s totally natural. Yup, uh huh. [The Gloss] Keep reading »
