Sofia Vergara tweeted this picture of herself “getting ready” the night before the Golden Globes. Yesss! This is how I like to see a celeb prepping for the red carpet: with massive amounts of frosting. See, and she still looked bangin’ in her blue mermaid-y number. Let them eat cake! [WOW]
Jodie Foster’s mystifying speech wasn’t the only buzz-worthy Golden Globes moment. After winning best screenplay for “Django Unchained,” Quentin Tarantino discussed his frequent use of the n-word in the movie with reporters—and he went ahead and used the n-word while doing so. “If somebody is out there actually saying when it comes to the word [n-word], the fact that I was using it in the movie more than it was being used in the antebellum South in Mississippi, then feel free to make that case. But no one’s actually making that case,” Tarantino said. “They are saying I should lie, that I should whitewash, that I should massage, and I never do that when it comes to my characters.” Read more…
Last night’s Golden Globe Awards were, hands down, the funniest the show has ever been. I’m serious. I realize that’s a big statement to make, but Tina Fey and Amy Poehler brought it and, frankly, were even a bit under used. And I never say that about award show hosts. But the show overall was filled with many, many awesome moments, from Adele’s win for best song, to Lena Dunham and “Girls” surprise wins, to Jodie Foster’s incredible kinda sorta coming out speech. Let’s review the best moments, in picture, GIF and video form… Keep reading »
Maybe the 2013 Golden Globes is a good omen of what’s to come this year, fashion wise. When they were bad, they weren’t all that bad, and when they were good, well, they were amazing. Stand out fashion stars on Sunday night’s Golden Globes red carpet included Kerry Washington, whose delicate shift played nicely off her modern hairstyle, and Katharine McPhee, who took a daring plunge into sexy town in all black. There was a lot to praise last night, and we’re hoping that as award’s season continues, we’ll see more great looks from these stars.
These were our favorites, but don’t forget to share yours in the comments!
Okay, honest: There wasn’t that much actual dreckitude at this year’s Golden Globes. As much as we love deriding a dress that’s just totally wrong, most celebs got it pretty spot on. So don’t think that everyone in this category is a total failure. It’s just that … they could have done better. It wasn’t that, for instance, Lena Dunham looked awful — it’s just that we would have picked something else for her. Maybe something not so heavy and drapery-like. And it’s not that Kristen Wiig didn’t look like a knock out. It’s just … the belly cutout on that dress was a bit too “pregnant high school girl at the prom.” But Julianne Hough? Sorry girl, your dress was tres terrible!
So we give the “bad” rating with those caveats in mind. Everyone there last night was a winner, and way better dressed than you or me, sitting on the couch watching at home (okay, maybe just me).
And who knows … maybe by this year’s Academy Awards we’ll be able to give some of them a mark for Most Improved.
