These Fiber Optic High Heels Will Light Up Your Toes

Fiber optic shoes? Now that’s something new. Sure, we’ve seen light-up heels before. Strippers have been wearing glow in the dark heels for years, and Rodarte has picked up the glowing shoes trend, too. This time around, Italian designer Francesca Castagnacci has created a high heel outfitted with fiber optics that transform regular pumps into illuminated show-stoppers. So how’d she do it? “Utilizing new technologies in advanced textile creation, Castagnacci wove delicate fiber optic materials and LEDs throughout the shoes, creating a work of art that’s absolutely otherworldly,” Pipeline reports. Shocker: Style Biting Prevalent In Pop Stardom

It seems like all the blogosphere wants to talk about today is Ke$ha‘s crappy “Saturday Night Live” performances this weekend (slow news day?) and how she is all Lady Gaga wanna-bein’ it up and totally stole Sia’s “Buttons” performance style since her (pretty wack) costume glowed in the dark, blah, blah … After checking out Sia’s performance on Jimmy Kimmel a few years back, I can certainly see the similarities. But it’s no different than Lady Gaga’s own incessant copy-catting of Grace Jones, Róisin Murphy (check out all the outfits Gaga has copped) and other fashion and pop idols. The fact is, much like fashion is cyclical, so are performance styles. I’m not defending the little punk, but for all her crimes, this is a big fat nothing. Watch the clip after the jump! Would You Wear Glow-In-The-Dark Underwear?

Here it is only three days away from Halloween and I still have no idea what I’m going to dress up as. I suppose if I wanted to go the sexy route — which I don’t think I do — I could always skip the costume altogether and don this glow-in-the-dark lingerie in a private party for two. The bra and briefs set, called the “Boudoir Collection,” was created by Australian company, Luminglow. The designer, 55-year-old Jan Hawley, said the idea came from her two grown sons. Naturally! Don’t most designers get their ideas for racy lingerie from their kids? “I have to laugh discussing knickers and bras with my sons and asking them what they like and think looks good. It’s hilarious. I can only say its been an illuminating experience from beginning to end.” Hawley says. The bra sells for about $46, the lace briefs for about $26. [via Daily Mail]

Glow In The Dark Toilet Paper: Convenient, Funny, Or Risky?

Going to the bathroom during a power outage or while you’re suffering from a major hangover just got a lot easier. You no longer need light to locate the toilet paper roll. Glow in the dark toilet paper shines like a beacon of good hygiene, but one question still remains: Is it really safe to have this tissue close to your bum? I’ve noticed colored toilet paper has become a thing of the past, and I always thought it was because dyes are unhealthy. However, one thing is for sure, glow in the dark toilet paper will be good for laughs –$8 laughs.
