“Glee” Thrills Us With “Thriller”

Sometimes when “Glee” goes off the air for a little while, I convince myself that I am over its saccharine song and dance numbers. But it never happens—once I watch again, BAM! I am instantly re-hooked. That’s what happened last night when I begrudgingly watched the show’s much-hyped return after the Super Bowl. The episode was hilarious and made me sing along to a mashup of “Thriller” and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Heads Will Roll. Chances are you already saw this clip because, well, 26.8 million people watched last night. But just in case, here you go. I love that the McKinley football team, in order not to be completely steamrolled by the opposing team, has to do a rendition of “Single Ladies” or this over-the-top number. What will they have up their sleeves next time?

After the jump, see the Cheerios do “California Gurls” complete with fireworks bras. Keep reading »

A Very Michael Jackson “Glee”

This is actually sort of thrilling—on February 6th, right after the Super Bowl, “Glee” will be back with a special Michael Jackson-themed episode. Here is one of the first photos from the episode, which will be followed two days later with another fresh dose on its regular night. I’m sorta hoping Puck does a rendition of “PYT” somewhere in here. [EW]

Oh, and check out a preview after the jump. Keep reading »

Anne Hathaway And Kanye West Both Set To Play Gay

What do Kanye West and Anne Hathaway have in common, other than being A)) human and B) famous? Well, they’re both getting ready to play gay characters. According to Ryan Murphy, Anne has just signed on to appear on “Glee,” playing Kurt’s lesbian aunt. Apparently, she dreamed up the part herself. “She’s already created [her role],” said Murphy. “She wants to play the lesbian aunt of Chris Colfer. Because everyone needs a lesbian aunt.” Here’s hoping she gets together with Sue Sylvester. [MTV]

Meanwhile, Kanye West is rumored to be taking on his first major acting role, in a movie about a gay jazz band in 1939. Keep reading »

Ain’t Nothin’ But A “Glee” Thang, Baby

Heather Morris, Matthew Morrison, Naya Rivera, Cory Monteith, and several other familiar “Glee” faces teamed up for this Funny or Die spoof, “Ain’t Nothin’ But A ‘Glee’ Thang.” It’s reasonably funny, though I think it would have packed a lot more punch if Dr. Dre or Snoop Dogg had made an appearance (hey, Snoop did the “Oh Sookie” video), or if the teens in the intro were sipping on gin and juice. That said, I do like the bit where Sofia Vergara gushes about Jane Lynch, which sure feels like a make good for the time her “Modern Family” co-star said Jane didn’t deserve her Emmy. And I also appreciated the random diss on AT&T in here. True dat. Keep reading »

Lea Michele Dissed “True Grit” Star Hailee Steinfeld

“When I was auditioning for ‘True Grit,’ I was on the Paramount lot, I was wearing clothes from the 1800s that were big and uncomfortable. ‘Glee’ also films on the lot and I love the show … I saw Lea Michele just walking to her trailer and I was like, ‘That’s the girl from ‘Glee.’ I’ve got to go ask for her autograph!’ So I walked up to her and asked for her autograph, but she walked by and a guy came and said, ‘Sorry, now’s not a good time!’ … I had to walk all the way back to the car wearing what I was wearing. I was practically crying on the way home. I was so sad! But she’s beautiful and she has an amazing voice.”

— “True Grit” star Hailee Steinfeld on her fan fail with Lea Michele. Way to break a young star’s heart, Lea. I bet she feels like an ass now. Not to worry, Hailee. You’re already more famous than Lea. She should be begging for your autograph. [Celebitchy] Keep reading »

Heather Morris To Be Buffy? How She Stacks Up To Sarah Michelle Gellar And Kristy Swanson

Back in November, we told you that Warner Brothers is making a new “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” movie, only without Sarah Michelle Gellar, who became a girl power icon on the TV show, or Joss Whedon, who created both the series and the 1992 movie. Naturally, this doesn’t have us Buffy-philes very happy. But some casting news could be the silver lining on a cloudy day. Apparently, Heather Morris—aka the amazing Brittany on “Glee“—is being courted for the role. “They’re considering me!” Heather says. “I found out and I almost peed my pants ’cause I was so excited!”

So how does Heather compare to her Buffy predecessors, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Kristy Swanson? A full analysis after the jump. Keep reading »
