Fishs Eddy Strip He Glasses

While pinup girls make regular appearances on everything from jewelry to automobile mud flaps, we don’t see pinup guys, well, anywhere. Thankfully, tableware company Fishs Eddy has come up with a set of cheeky (har, har) glasses to fill the void. Featuring a pole dancer in butt-baring chaps, these 13.5 oz. cups are certainly one tall drink of water. [$20 for 4, Fishs Eddy] Keep reading »

Would You Buy $600 Glasses If They Were Tailor-Made For You?

We’ve talked glasses before. Like Amelia, I’m guilty of rocking a pair of “dated” frames, and I’m in the market for some new, not-circa-1997 eyeglasses. So when I happened upon Indivijual custom eyewear, I was intrigued. Indivjual allows customers to completely personalize their specs. The process begins with a full assessment of your skin, hair and eye color, face shape and personality, and ends with a carefully considered, well-designed pair of glasses that entirely compliments and expresses your persona (and works with your hair color, too). The glasses are around 600 bucks, which is not cheap. But, frankly, I’ve seen more of those crazy expensive Chanel eyeglasses on women these days than ever before and those ain’t pennies on the dollar either. Why not spend a little more and get yourself a haute custom experience? Something to save up for. [Cool Hunting] Keep reading »

Not Cool: Rihanna Tries To Make Old Man Specs Happen

Stop right there, RiRi. We’re willing to overlook the skunk hair and forgive the sheer-paneled dresses because your style is otherwise oh-so-fierce, but this we cannot allow. If these were sunglasses we could see the chicness, but the clear lenses are bringing back memories of Grandpa circa 1983, and NOT in the awesome way. Keep reading »

Boys Make Passes At Girls Who Wear Glasses (And Look Like This)

There are many old adages that say guys don’t like girls who wear glasses, that having four eyes is simply not attractive, and that nerds get no play. New Zealand photographer/illustrator Kelly Thompson proves everyone wrong with her mixed media exhibit “Bookworms Never Go To Bed Alone,” on display at the Gorker Gallery in Melbourne, Australia. Even if you think geeks who spend their free time at the library reading books their teachers didn’t assign them are total losers, Thompson’s artwork will send you straight to the stacks — and Cohen’s Fashion Optical. Round Sunglasses Are The Next Big Thing We Won’t Be Buying

We’d seen the round glasses trend creeping up slowly for the last couple years. It became especially apparent the circle shades would blow up at some point when Mary-Kate Olsen, always the trendsetter, began wearing John Lennon-style wireframes on a regular basis. And then goggle-like pairs were paraded down the runways of Proenza Schouler, Lanvin, and Marc Jacobs. Now, the New York Times has declared this the summer of round-framed sunglasses, and we’re aghast. Keep reading »

Crave: Glasses For Around Your Neck

Catherine owns this long necklace with a smallish spectacles charm danging from it. This is a much larger version, modeled after Brit-pop icon Jarvis Cocker’s glasses. They won’t help you with your far sightedness, though. [$68.72 (converted from British pounds), TattyDevine.com] Keep reading »

    Wear Glasses When You Lie

Things have certainly changed since I was a kid. Back in elementary school, wearing glasses made you less than cool — luckily, I didn’t need them (I had a hard enough time making friends since I didn’t like pizza). These days, glasses make a statement, even to first graders. According to a study by researchers at Ohio State University, six to ten year olds think kids who wear glasses appear smarter than those who don’t. Wearing glasses also gave kids the impression that the wearer was more honest. Now I kind of wish I wore glasses. Who doesn’t want to look smart and trustworthy? [EurekAlert!] Keep reading »
