"When this girl meets world..."

Anne Hathaway has been everywhere lately, breathlessly accepting All The Awards for her portrayal of doomed prostitute Fantine in “Les Miserables.” Would it really be that hard to believe that Anne would leverage all this musical attention into a gig singing Disney show theme songs, in character? That’s the premise of this hilarious video by comedian Samantha Martin, which imagines Anne tearfully belting out the theme song to the eagerly awaited show, “Girl Meets World.” Somebody give this girl an Oscar! World, meet girl. Specifically, 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard, the actress who will be playing Cory and Topanga’s daughter on the highly anticipated Disney Channel spin-off of “Boy Meets World,” aptly titled, “Girl Meets World.” The show is still in the very early phases, with a projected premiere date sometime in the 2013-2014 season, but producer Michael Jacobs is ecstatic about his lead actress: “As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews … I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well.” [Entertainment Weekly]
