Marie Claire Devotes Six Paragraphs To Discussing Kate Hudson And Ginnifer Goodwin’s Weight

Of all the lady mags, I tend to find the stories in Marie Claire to be the most informative, well-written, and thought-provoking. Celebrity interviews, of course, are a bit of a crapshoot; for every Lady Gaga (who will give amazing, ridiculous quote after amazing, ridiculous quote) there’s a Katie Holmes (who repeats canned answers that were clearly rehearsed over and over with a publicist in advance). Then there are all the celebrities who give interviews somewhere in the middle, sometimes interesting, sometimes not so much, often due to the types of questions posed by the interviewer. (Ask a celeb a boring question, you’ll probably get a boring answer.) For that reason, i wasn’t expecting much when I sat down to read the Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin cover story in the June issue of Marie Claire.

But I certainly didn’t expect six paragraphs devoted to discussing the stars’ weight. Keep reading »

Ginnifer Goodwin Has Been Dieting Since She Was 9 Years Old

“I have been a member of Weight Watchers for 23 years and I’m back on it right now. It’s the only thing on the planet that doesn’t dehydrate you or just make you miserable. I’ve never had a dramatic weight problem, it’s just that I tend to indulge, and then I need to get back on track so I can button my pants.”

— Ginnifer Goodwin, star of HBO’s “Big Love,” tells Health magazine she’s been on Weight Watchers since she was 9 years old. Trust me, Ginnifer, WW is not the only thing on the planet that doesn’t make you miserable. [via Huffington Post] Keep reading »

Huge “Big Love” Spoiler Alert!

In other words, if you want to live in complete ignorance of a possible plot point in the next season of the HBO show, stop reading now. Remember how Ben, the eldest son, and hot, young step-mom Margene (playing by Ginnifer Goodwin) shared a little smooch last season, after a slow buildup of awkward sexual tension? Well, Goodwin recently said that her character “does something next season that in my own esteem is so horrible that I had trouble even performing it.” Oh dang, what? Well, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series co-creator Mark V. Olsen hinted about Ben and Margene: “We have flirted for three years with [that] relationship. And this year we finally decided to pay it off.” What does that mean? That Margene and Ben do it? How are they going to pull that off without completely villainizing Goodwin’s character? And what will the other sister-wives say?! Keep reading »

Ginnifer Goodwin Goes Bad For W Magazine

Ginnifer Goodwin appears to be pulling a Rihanna by attempting to break out of her good girl image to be a bad girl for fashion photographer Steven Klein in the latest issue of W. As polygamist wife Margene on HBO’s “Big Love,” it’s rare to see the 31-year-old “Southern belle” in anything less than the latest plural marriage fashions, but here she oozes sex in black leather and an Amy Winehouse wig while running around with a few greased up dudes showing of their 12-pack abs. In the accompanying interview, Goodwin talks about her newfound veganism, her breakup last year with actor Chris Klein, and her proper Tennessee upbringing that fostered a “prim” relationship to sex (she says she’s got “iron panties”). Plus, she reveals what she thought of the provocative images that accompany the profile: “I’m positive people don’t see me this way. They think I am Margene or Gigi. I was delighted that what I saw was so against what people would call ‘my type.’” Up next? A role in designer Tom Ford’s much-anticipated directorial debut and a turn in the movie adaptation of Beverly Cleary’s Beezus and Ramona. After the jump, some of the racy pics. [W] Keep reading »
