This sea salt soap would be the perfect stocking stuffer for all the hard-to-buy-for guys on your gifting lists this year. Not only is the graphic design on point, the soap itself is full of clarifying minerals and it lathers up enough to be used in place of shaving cream. Beautiful and efficient is a great combo. Etsy Spotlight: 11 Artsy Movie Posters

Once you move out of your college dorm room, it’s generally frowned upon to plaster your walls with crinkled “Animal House” posters. You can get around the stigma by putting your movie posters in ornate frames (which is what I did with my beloved “Spice World” poster) or you can show your love for your favorite films with artistic prints instead. I found 11 awesome movie posters designed by Etsy artists that will mix right in with all the other art on your walls. Click on the gallery to check ‘em out!

To borrow a phrase from the inimitable Mr. Darcy, you must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and adore these Jane Austen bandages. Great Find: Bright And Happy Slap Watches

We all loved slap bracelets when we were kids — we played with them (until they were banned), simply because they’re addictively fun. Duh. Now we can be “adults” and have our slap, too, by wearing these slap bracelet watches. The cool rubber is super durable and the watch face can be popped out and put into another color band, which makes one perfect no matter what you’re wearing. And if you buy one for a friend, you can swap out colors with each other! [$17.95, Slap Watch] Keep reading »

Give Me A Bear Bouquet!

Women don’t want a bouquet of roses. We want a bouquet of stuffed bears! Sure, FTD does something like this, with a bunch of flowers that have a small stuffed animal in the middle, but these bear bouquets take the concept to a whole new level. Personally, they freak me out. Apparently, the number one is lucky in Chinese culture, so there are 11 bears here, the number one doubled. But do they all stare at you with their 22 eyes while you’re sleeping? I shudder to think. [Weekly Teinou] Keep reading »

Help! He’s Terrible At Buying Me Gifts

My husband cannot shop. He’s awful at buying gifts. He tries really hard, but it’s just not his thing. One year, I got socks. Then there were the years where I got electronic gifts—fun for him, but not for me (and no woman really wants a clothes steamer as her big Christmas gift, no matter how useful it is). Once I got a fishing pole. He’s tried to buy jewelry, but I never like it. Keep reading »

Share Your DIY Gift Ideas!

With the holidays right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about gifts. Unless you’re my mom, in which case you started thinking about this year’s holiday gifts on December 26th of last year. But for the rest of us, mid-to-late November is a sane time to get the ball rolling. And if you think you might like to make any homemade gifts, you should probably get cracking pronto — at least on the planning. In the comments, I’d love to hear your ideas for DIY gifts — things you’ve done in the past, ideas you’ve seen elsewhere and would like to try, things you’ve received and loved — especially if they don’t require too much in the way of sewing, knitting or crafty skills. After the jump, a few ideas to get things started. Keep reading »

Are These Profile Bangles Great Or A Waste?

Russell Greenberg from Cameo by RUX has created his idea of a modern cameo. He carves resin bangles and 18-karat gold and platinum rings into 3D portraits of anyone’s profile. And all he needs is a photograph. While personalized jewelry is usually an awesome gift, these bangles are so clunky they’re ugly. And really no one is going to notice it’s someone’s profile. A large amount of craftsmanship and work goes into each of these pieces, I’m sure, but I can think of many more things to spend $350 on rather than a portrait bracelet. The rings are actually beautiful, though, and would make a meaningful wedding band, but cost $1,700 a pop. What do you think? Are these portrait bangles and rings awesome gifts or a phenomenal waste of money? [Refinery 29] Keep reading »
