Charlize Theron Isn’t Interested In Marriage, Is In Favor Of Marriage Equality

“I don’t … I treat my relationships like marriages, I really do … I really want for myself a long-term relationship, and I have been in long-term relationships. That’s the kind of union that I want. The actual ceremony is not something that is important to me, but I see the importance for other people.”

Breaking News: Gay Marriage Passes In New York

New York State has officially passed a same sex marriage bill, 33 to 29, becoming the sixth and largest state to make gay marriage legal in the United States. This vote is particularly historic as Republicans have a majority in the NY state legislature, making it the first GOP-led body to pass a same sex marriage amendment. I would write more, but I need to start picking out what I am going to wear to all the kick ass gay weddings I’m going to attend in the next year. Congratulations to the LGBTQ community in NY — it’s about f**king time. [Reuters] Keep reading »

President Obama Says Legalizing Gay Marriage Is Up To Each State

Last night President Obama spoke at an LGBT rights fundraiser in New York City, which is noteworthy because the New York state Senate is currently on the precipice of legalizing gay marriage. In his speech, Obama addressed gay and lesbians‘ fight for equal rights and said it is up to each individual state to do the right thing. “New York is doing exactly what democracies are supposed to do: there’s a debate, a deliberation, about what it means to treat people fairly in the eyes of the law,” he said. Tracy Morgan Apologizes Again, Speaks Out In Favor Of Gay Marriage

“Of all the sicknesses, there is probably none more abusive than homophobia. My heart is committed to giving everyone the same rights that I deserve for myself. I don’t care if you love the same sex as long as you have the ability to love someone I am deeply sorry for the comments I made. What I am most sad about is the comments I made about kids and bullying. … I believe everyone deserves the right to be happy and marry who they want too; gay, white, black, male or female. Let me know where the rally’s at Russ. I’m there!”

Tracy Morgan, who caught major flack late last week for “joking” during a stand-up appearance that he would kill his son if he came out as gay, apologizes again for his actions in an interview with Russell Simmons at Global Grind. Morgan also seems interested in making amends with the gay community by not only speaking out in favor of gay marriage (and the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell), but lending his support at rallies and other activist events. Personally, I hope Morgan’s apology is accepted, that he is taken up on his offer to work with gay rights causes, and that he actually follows through. Tina Fey said that the Tracy Morgan who went on that homophobic rant is not the Tracy Morgan she knows and I, for one, would like him to have the opportunity to prove it.
