Last week, I sauntered into the Gap to escape the heat and to check out the sale section. Once again, Gap didn’t let me down and somehow I walked out of there with a shopping bag full of sale goodies. While the items weren’t truly remarkable, they are staples, like a striped oversized T-shirt and T-strap sandals, that will go with a number of things I often wear. Everything at the Gap goes on sale eventually, so I checked out the website to see what other staples had been reduced. I’m really excited about a number of these items because they can be worn in so many ways with a change of accessories or shoes. See what I found after the jump. Keep reading »

Remember days of the week underwear? (We were the girls who could never get it right and were always wearing Tuesday’s panties on a Thursday. So rebellious.) Stella McCartney has famously brought back the cute idea with her beautiful lace knickers of the week that come in a charming chest of drawers package. Problem is, it’ll cost you $195 to keep your butt covered for seven days. The good news is that Ms. McCartney has done a cheaper version of the fun underthings for Gap. The $38 set features colorful cotton instead of silk but still retains the look and style of the originals. Full disclosure: You’ll find them in the Gap Kids section, which we’ve been known to pick from on occasion. Just look for the L or XL sizes! [Journelle.com, Gap] Keep reading »
Trend alert: denim button-ups are on the up-and-up. We’re seeing this ’90s style come back through all of our favorite retailers. While we scratched our heads and said, Huh? at first, we’re now kind of digging the look, which strays from the preppy Ralph Lauren aesthetic of yesterday and now seems vintage and model-perfect. Our pick: this chambray western shirt from the Gap which, with its strategic wear-and-fade details, looks like it just might have come out from the back of your closet. We’re crushing on the western-style piping and buttons, but think this shirt would be best worn without the cowboy boots (avoid the cliché), and instead with some heels and a high bun.
We know you own a lot of denim. So when you tire of those blue jeans, don’t just throw them in the trash. Gap recognized the fact that many people own multiple pairs of jeans, which adds up to a huge waste. So, in an effort to reduce and reuse, the brand teamed up with Cotton Incorporated to help the charity, Cotton: From Blue to Green, which takes old denim, turns it into UltraTouch Natural Cotton Fiber Insulation, and then donates it to those in need. From today until March 14, drop off your jeans at 1,000 stores in North America and Puerto Rico to donate your old jeans to a good cause. Of course, you’ll not only feel good about your charity work, but you’ll also receive a shopping incentive–30 percent off your next purchase of jeans! [WWD] Keep reading »
