As 2013 gets its start (we made it!), we’re looking back at our utmost favorite celeb looks throughout the previous year, like these 10 stars who consistently impressed us on the streets…
I consider myself something of a pullover sweater connoisseur in that I am never not wearing one. Why wear real clothes when you can just throw a sweater on? This year, I’m loving them in warm, thick knits and relaxed crew-neck silhouettes, perfect for wearing alone or layering over collared shirts. Check out 10 of my top picks in the gallery above!
We’re in love with gold, especially around the holidays ― its warm glow is universally flattering, and just a touch of the metallic shade can take a look from drab to party-ready. We know it’s a solid choice for jewelry, but when it comes to clothes and other accessories, it can be difficult to know where to draw the line between festive and, well, overboard. Here are our best bets (including a few well-deserved splurges) for integrating a little bit of flash in our wardrobes this season …
I’m pretty stoked about “Les Misérables,” mostly because I practically inhaled the book as a precocious 13-year-old but never got the chance to catch it on Broadway. I cry every time the trailer comes on so I should probably, definitely go see it alone. Still, we were hoping that Anne Hathaway, what with her angling for a 2013 Oscar nom for her role as ill-fated prostitute Fantine, would fare slightly better on the red carpet at the film’s world premiere. Check out more photos, and highly scientific sartorial observations, in the gallery above!
Say what you will about Kim Kardashian, but I’ll forever back her on one thing: the girl’s makeup is always on point. Whether she’s rocking the family trademark super-smoky eye and nude gloss, or keeping it low-key with just mascara and flawless skin, Kim’s beauty routine has inarguably got it going on. Check out our top seven picks of her many makeup looks in the gallery above! Keep reading »
Everything is better in England, if slightly more damp, and the style is no exception. I mean, they have Alexa Chung! We have … Miley Cyrus. The annual British Fashion Awards celebrate the creative success of British designers and other fashion industry talent ― Stella McCartney was the grand winner this time around, taking home two awards as both the Designer of the Year and Designer Brand of the Year. Ms. Chung scored the British Style honor for the third year in a row, naturally, and relative newcomer Cara Delevingne was the top choice for Model of the Year. But forget what they won; what did they wear?
We generally pride ourselves on being perfectly composed and businesslike here at The Frisky offices
ahahahahahaha, but I think we can all agree that we’ve endured a rough couple of weeks. Mercury Retrograde has had its wicked way with us, and needless to say, there have been some tears. Quite a few, in fact. So many that we now consider ourselves well-versed experts in the art of looking good (read: halfway acceptable, maybe), even when we feel like absolute shit. Leaving the house may be the very last thing you want to do when you’re feeling godawful for whatever reason, yet part of any recovery process is getting out in the world and reminding yourself that, yes, life goes on … but we’ve got you covered should you find yourself breaking down in the produce aisle. We know. It happens.
Oh, yes, that time of year is approaching again, when all you really want to do is lay in the bathtub all day and night. When the weather gets cold and the days get short (like, so short) there’s nothing better to ease your Seasonal Affective Disorder-addled mind than to peel off the wool tights and draw yourself a hot bath. (We like showers, too, especially if the tub is a little sketchy.) But what is a leisurely bath without the right atmosphere? These are our picks to set the stage for a mind-meltingly relaxing bathtime experience, with the perfect subdued scents to make you feel a little better about spending your entire Friday night submerged in water. There is nothing wrong with that.
Target and Neiman Marcus are at absolute opposite ends of the retail spectrum, which is all the more reason for them to want to come together, right? Whatever the logic behind their decision to collaborate, we have no complaints, even less so now that we’ve gotten to see each of the 55 items from the holiday collection. With prices starting at $7.99, you’d be hard-pressed not to find something that you or someone you know needs this coming season (especially considering, hello, holiday shopping is about to become a legitimate concern). The collection doesn’t hit stores (at Target, Neiman Marcus, and both online sources) until December 1, but the items are sure to sell out fast, so it’s best to go into it knowing exactly what you want. Check out my 12 designer picks from the offerings, and let us know what you’ll be waiting in (or on) line for come December! [Glamour]
Kate Upton has weathered her fair share of critics in her brief career thus far, including an incident early this year in which Victoria’s Secret runway caster Sophia Neophitou cruelly said of the then-teenager’s look, “She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.” (Ever more depressing is the fact that some people think she’s fat, even likening her to, yes, a “squishy brick.”) And yet all signs point to Upton having the last laugh in this ongoing crusade: she scored two high-fashion magazine covers in the past two months alone, including the first issue of Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book, but her biggest upmarket break yet will hit the newsstands this week when she stars in a full Vogue spread.
