The best part of my job for the last five years has been to work with the best group of women I could ever imagine. In addition to my current staff — Jessica, Ami, Julie, Winona and Rachel — who make coming to work each day a serious joy. the women who worked at The Frisky in years past were integral to the site’s success. As I compiled this “Where Are They Now?” gallery of former Frisky staffers, I must admit I got a little weepy, because I miss them, am honored to have worked with them, and am so proud of the great things they’re doing now. Click on to find out what Wendy, Annika, Catherine, Kate, Susannah, Erin, Simcha, Leonora and Judy are up to these days…
This is Dan Toombs, but you might know him as The Curry Guy, because every single night for the past year, he’s made his family dinner using curry. Chicken korma, tandoori masala, and less traditional recipes like currywurst and curry-spiced turkey Christmas turkey, you name it–if it involves curry, he’s probably cooked it. As soon as I heard about this story, it brought me back to my own childhood, and the questionable dinners (butter sandwiches, anyone?) my dad used to make over and over again. I thought it might be interesting to poll the other Frisky staffers about their parents’ cooking habits, and if there were any particular meals they really hated growing up. Check out our stories after the jump, and please share your own in the comments! Keep reading »
This year, instead of exchanging holiday presents here at The Frisky, we’ve decided to give each other slideshows of the gifts we would give one another if money were no object. Last week, the staff gifted me with some awesome imaginary presents. Today it’s Jessica’s turn! Click through to see the gifts in her virtual stocking. It’s the thought that counts, right?
We here at The Frisky spend most of our time working away deep inside the blogging mines, unearthing the best webternet content we can find. It’s not easy. But someone has to do it! And that is us. Occasionally, we do take the time to have a good time, and every good time, as everyone knows, involves a nickname. For example, in high school: I was very tall. And people called me Big Bird. Did I like that? Well, no. Or, should I say, maybe? A nickname is a sign of endearment, so if you want to know what to call Amelia next time you see her rocketing down the sidewalk, your handy guide is after the jump. Keep reading »
Hey! The other day I brought my camera to the Frisky offices, and I took some pictures! Would you like to meet some of the Frisky editorial team? Of course you would!
First up, we have Amelia. If this site came from a womb, it was Amelia’s. [And now I am barren. Kidding! -- Editor] She is our lead editor and fearless leader. One time she told me that she rules with an iron glove clutching a bouquet of flowers. Or something like that. [Iron fist of flowers, actually.] Whatever that means, it works. Meet more of the Frisky ladies after the jump! Keep reading »
