By now you’ve probably decided what your New Year’s resolutions are—and chances are, some of them are somehow related to our current economic crisis. Have you resolved to start bringing your lunch everyday to save money? Decided to do your yoga workouts at home, rather than at a pricey studio? We sent our girl Lori out to find out some others…

Just as everyone has different holiday traditions, we all decorate our homes in our own styles. Personally, I wouldn’t mind this strange looking hot pink tree.

People always talk about how champagne and strawberries are sexy, but do naked bodies and food really mix well? Our girl Lori found some interesting opinions, including this gem: “Nothing says lovin’ like a couple of chocolate chips and a bag of condoms.”

Our girl Lori went shopping at the Holiday Market in NYC’s Union Square. She found some smelly soaps, headless jewelry holders, and recycled glass—all excellent gift ideas if you didn’t like anything in our gift guide.

The kind of presents a significant other gives says a lot about them—or what they think about their partner. Our girl Lori asked people on the street about their best and worst gifts. The consensus seems to be that something is better than nothing, unless that something is a potholder glove.

Ahh, Thanksgiving. A time to eat, drink, give thanks, eat, drink, and give thanks some more. And then sleep, because all of that is rather exhausting. Personally, this year, despite my lame romantic situation, I’m extremely thankful for many things. Namely, my family, my friends, my dog, being lucky enough to be employed in the midst of this crap economy, and, well, the fact that Barack Obama won the Presidency. What about you?

I’m cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the first time this year. It’s a good thing my favorite Thanksgiving food isn’t turkey, because I’m pretty sure if there’s anything I’m going to mess up, it’s the bird. No, I’m more of a potatoes, stuffing, and (canned) cranberry sauce girl. What about you? We polled people on the street for their favorite T-Day foods.

What’s the average Joe and Jane cutting spending on during these tough economic times? Our girl Lori finds out.

Finally. The longest Presidential election EVER finally comes to an end on Tuesday! Well, hopefully. Remember back in 2000 when it dragged on and on for months AFTER election day? Yeah, that was a scream. Anyway, we sent our girl Lori out to ask people on the streets of New York who they’re voting for. Clearly NYC is swinging in one particular direction.

Whether or not a person wants kids is often a relationship dealbreaker. We had our girl Lori cruise the streets of SoHo in NYC to find out what people think about birthing little stinkers. The consensus? Children are expensive, strollers get in the way of life, and 9-year-olds are annoying.

People seem to care a lot about the height of their mate. Women almost always want a tall guy (who’s preferably dark and handsome, as well), while guys’ preferences don’t seem to be as set in stone. Our girl Lori took the height question to the extreme, asking people whether they’d like to be extremely short or extremely tall. Me? I’m liking the view from 5’2”.

My story sucks, so I’m not going to tell it. BUT I will tell you that Willie Nelson was on the stereo, a String Cheese Incident (a terrible jam band) poster was on the wall, and the guy was of the opposite political affiliation than me. But what about the rest of you? We sent our girl Lori out to ask total strangers about their first times. Shockingly, she didn’t get all that many dirty looks!

I don’t know about the people in this video, but I would seriously rather never orgasm again than be in practically a constant state of climax. I mean, how distracting.

Personally, I think the most annoying thing a person can do on the first date is talk about money. I also think that’s the most annoying thing a person can do on the 59th date, but that’s just me. We asked tons of peeps on the street for the most annoying thing they’ve encountered on a date and DANG am I glad I haven’t dated any of the people they’ve come across.

Fake boobs! Silicone! Everyone’s getting them! So what do average people really think of people who bump up their mammary glands with plastic, saline, and silicone? Watch and find out!

Did you guys notice that everyone was wearing straw fedoras this summer? I own one myself and while I didn’t want to admit that I was one of a million, I have to face the truth once our girl Lori sent us this video she shot of all the fedoras she caught on camera this summer. What will next summer’s it accessory be, you think?

Sigh. It’s the last official weekend of summer coming up and before I know it, my tan is going to fade into my usual sallow pastiness. But speaking of tanning, when you’re hittin’ the beach this Labor Day weekend, don’t forget to slather yourself in sunscreen—I never wear anything higher than an 8, but I am an idiot. Our girl Lori, however, is a smart cookie when it comes to sun protection and she took to the streets to ask people about their sunscreen routine and to do a little finger wagging.

We love that this girl doesn’t obsess over putting together an outfit everyday, but still walks out looking awesome—proof that being stylish is all about ease and not trying too hard.

It’s wedding season. Sorry for reminding you. As your credit cards begin to max out on plane tickets and shower gifts, we took to the streets to find out whether the Average Joe and Jane actually has a dream white wedding of their own in mind.
