One of the breakout stars of this year’s Sundance Film Festival is an actor who’s been on my radar for awhile. His name is Michael B. Jordan, and if you’re a fan of “The Wire” and “Friday Night Lights” — two of the best television shows of all time hands down no debate – you know who I’m talking about. Michael’s portrayal of teenage drug dealer Wallace on “The Wire” tore my motherfuckin’ heart out. And a few years — and muscles — later, he did it again as East Dillon Lions quarterback Vince Howard. He steamed up the small screen and is poised to do the same on the big screen in the indie flick “Fruitvale,” playing Oscar Grant, a young man who was shot to death by a police officer at the Oakland, CaliforniaFruitvale rapid transit station. The Hollywood Reporter praised Michael’s performance, saying, “Jordan at moments gives off vibes of a very young Denzel Washington in the way he combines gentleness and toughness.” Young Denzel indeed.
