Girl Talk: When I Grow Up, I Want To Be Tami Taylor

There’s a lot to love about “Friday Night Lights,” a TV show about so much more than just high school football. My interest in the show was initially sparked by the sight of Taylor Kitsch, sweaty and shirtless, but it struck an unexpected chord with me. I came for the hot guy— I stayed for the honest and realistic portrait of long-term monogamy and lessons on leadership and compromise. For those reasons, the character of Tami Taylor has resonated with me the most. I often find myself asking, What would Tami Taylor do? Here’s why. Keep reading »

It’s Tami Taylor, Y’all

I’ve been in denial about the end of “Friday Night Lights.” With Connie Britton’s Emmy nom and this video compilation all of Tami Taylor’s y’alls, I suppose I can begin the grieving process. I won’t forget you Tami. You are an amazing wife and mother and all-around human being whose graciousness I shall only dream of attaining. Plus, her hair always looks so good. Culturista: Your Guide To The Week, From “Horrible Bosses” To The End Of “Friday Night Lights”

I don’t know about you, but I sure am feeling refreshed after having July 4th off. Still, even though it’s a short week, so much is happening in the pop culture universe. Some of the most exciting happenings of this week: the series finale of “Friday Night Lights,” which makes me sad because I honestly could have watched this show for another five years; the release of “Horrible Bosses,” which, in addition to “Bridesmaids,” could make this one of the funniest summers on record; and the sequel to Push landing on bookstore shelves, which lets us know what happens to Precious about 10 years later.

After the jump, this week’s television, movies, and music plus much, much more. Keep reading »

5 Reasons I’m Psyched Kyle Chandler Is On This Magazine Cover

Ahhhhh, what a wonderful magazine cover. When I walked to the newsstand today and saw Kyle Chandler’s face staring at me with his gruff, signature, “don’t you know how to throw a football” look, I felt instantly compelled to buy the June issue of Men’s Journal even though, well, I’m not the target audience. Kyle, who stars in “Friday Night Lights” isn’t the type of actor you see on magazine covers often, so I’m pumped that Men’s Journal decided to go with him. After the jump, five reasons this makes me happy. Keep reading »

What Will You Bid On At The “Friday Night Lights” Auction?

It’s the final season of “Friday Night Lights.” Huge teardrop. If you would like an expensive reminder of your time with Coach, Riggins, Lyla, and the gang, check out NBC’s “Friday Night Lights” auction. The prop and costume closets have been raided for your pleasure. Bid on such items as Smash’s jersey ($157.50), Coach Taylor’s East Dillon Lions jacket ($405 — pictured above), Lyla Garrity’s shirt ($45), Tim Riggins’ hood ($430) and more. All proceeds will go toward funding sports programs for underprivileged youth. What a lovely idea. But if they really wanted to raise some money, they’d be auctioning off a vial of Riggins’ sperm. Boo-yah! [NBC Universal Auctions via Buzzfeed] Keep reading »

First Look: Adrianne Palicki As “Wonder Woman”

Dayum, Tyra Collette, err, I mean Adrianne Palicki (who played Tyra on “Friday Night Lights”) looks hawwwwwt. Something tells me this will totally make Landry Clark pop a boner. In fact, I bet he would write a Crucifictorious song about it. Ugh, sorry, can’t stop with the “FNL” references. I am obsessed. Anyway, what’s your first impression of Adrianne’s “Wonder Woman”?
