Aziz Ansari’s “Friday Night Lights” Super Bowl Was Better Than The Real Super Bowl

I mean, just about anything was more exciting than last night’s Super Bowl, but Aziz Ansari‘s random decision to livetweet an imaginary Super Bowl between the Dillon Panthers and the East Dillon Lions — from “Friday Night Lights” — was legitimately entertaining. Some of the cast members of the show even got in on the fun. Scott Porter, who played Jason Street on “FNL,” tweeted the above photo, alongside Michael B. Jordan, who played Vince Howard. “I’ll just say no. [Slams fist on table.] No, period. I’m not doing it. I’m never gonna be in that movie. There was already a movie! And the show ended fuckin’ spot-on. We’re good.”

Taylor Kitsch, you sexy bastard, why must you crush my dreams like that? I realize that a “Friday Night Lights” movie (featuring the cast of the TV show) is Hollywood’s version of New York City’s 2nd Avenue subway — a big ol’ wonderful idea that will never ever come to fruition. All the talk in the world won’t make it a reality. And a “FNL” movie with out Tim Riggins is no “FNL” movie I want to see. Guess I’ll just rewatch the show from start to finish. [NYMag.com]

There Was A “Friday Night Lights” Mini-Reunion And You Weren’t Invited

But don’t feel bad. Neither was Tim Riggins, Coach Taylor, Mrs. Taylor and a whole mess of others. But, oh, does it make my heart sing to see Luke Cafferty, Smash Williams, Matt Saracen, and Jason Street again, even if the latter is wearing a terrrrrible pair of Crocs. [Instagram]

Spoiler Alert! How 12 Popular TV Shows Ended

Over the last few weeks, two very popular TV shows came to an end. “Breaking Bad” went out with a bang, while “Dexter” flatlined and choked on its own absurdity. Don’t worry — I won’t spoil either of those show conclusions for you (for now). But I will spoil the endings to these 12 other shows. Click on, if you dare…

Connie Britton Friday Night Lights Movie

“I didn’t think I’d have a baby on my own. But there’s a lot that comes out of having a plan and then seeing that there’s another way you can go. If you hold hard and fast to the plan regardless of where you’re at, then you go against the flow of your life.”

–”Nashville” star Connie Britton serves up a mega inspiring dose of truth in an interview with Ladies’ Home Journal about letting life unfold and being brave enough to deviate from your original plans (I just have to let my astrology obsession flag fly for a second here and say she is SUCH an evolved Pisces and I love it). Oh, and between all this awesome life advice, she also dropped a major bombshell: the “Friday Night Lights” movie script is finished (!!!!!). “I think it’s just a matter of finding a time when everyone can do it,” she said of the FNL movie. Dear God, please let this time happen sooner rather than later. Rayna James is great and all, but I need more Tami Taylor in my life. [Us Weekly]

Connie Britton Teams Up With Planned Parenthood For Limited Edition T-Shirt

What would Tami Taylor do? Stand with Texas women, of course. The “Friday Night Lights” and “Nashville” star has joined Planned Parenthood in promoting a limited edition T-shirt referencing her FNL character supporting the pro-choice women of Texas. In a Planned Parenthood’s press release about the shirts, Britton says:

“The character Tami on ‘Friday Night Lights’ is a Texas woman deeply committed to her community and to standing up for what is right for her neighbors and the people she loves. I have been inspired by how people around the country have united to stand with the women of Texas, and I can’t help but think that, in this moment, we all have the opportunity to join with and become strong, powerful Texas men and women.”

The limited edition T-shirts, which come in orange and white, are available online only through the month of July so you’d better snag yours here now. So, when a movie is made about Texas’ feminist army and their work fighting Senate Bill 5 — which would all but obliterate Texas’ women’s access to abortion — Britton is a shoe-in to play state Senator Wendy Davis right? Hump Day Hottie: Michael B. Jordan

The cold winter months have arrived, which means it’s time to heat things up. Our new newsletter, Hump Day Hotties, will bring our favorite eye candy directly into your inbox every Wednesday. (Subscribe here!) Feel free to drool. We won’t judge.

One of the breakout stars of this year’s Sundance Film Festival is an actor who’s been on my radar for awhile. His name is Michael B. Jordan, and if you’re a fan of “The Wire” and “Friday Night Lights” — two of the best television shows of all time hands down no debate – you know who I’m talking about. Michael’s portrayal of teenage drug dealer Wallace on “The Wire” tore my motherfuckin’ heart out. And a few years — and muscles — later, he did it again as East Dillon Lions quarterback Vince Howard. He steamed up the small screen and is poised to do the same on the big screen in the indie flick “Fruitvale,” playing Oscar Grant, a young man who was shot to death by a police officer at the Oakland, CaliforniaFruitvale rapid transit station. The Hollywood Reporter praised Michael’s performance, saying, “Jordan at moments gives off vibes of a very young Denzel Washington in the way he combines gentleness and toughness.” Young Denzel indeed. Keeping clicking to check out a bunch more photos of this incredibly handsome and talented actor…

“Dillon is a classic American town filled with hard-working, middle-class Americans, who just want to lead productive, healthy lives. And the women we represented on the show — the women we are in real life — are like the millions of women across the nation. Women who want to make our own health care decisions. Women who want to earn equal pay for the work we do. Women who want affordable health care. In fact, it is President Obama who has shown his values to be more closely aligned with those represented by the phrase.  … So as women, let’s take ‘Clear Eyes, Full Hearts’ back and use it as it was always intended — as a motivator for progress, power, and greatness.”

– “Nashville” star Connie Britton and her former “Friday Night Lights” executive producer Sarah Aubrey penned an op-ed for USA Today taking Mitt Romney to task for co-opting the show’s slogan ”Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose” for his campaign. Tami Taylor is not happy, y’all! She explains how Obama’s positions on issues like fair pay, reproductive choice, and affordable health care would have helped various different characters on the show in real life.  [USA Today] [Photo: Splash News]

What We Missed: The Frisky Staffs Talks About Two Great Documentaries & Wonders How Tim Riggins Would Vote

Wait, Tim Riggins Would Vote?

On this week’s episode of “What We Missed,” I totally bite it! So clutzy. Also, Ami and Jessica were both super pumped about a new documentary they saw called “Girl Model,” which takes a disturbing look at how model scouts go to small Eastern European villages and scout girls as young as 12 and 13, sending them to places like Japan to work.
