Sometimes an outfit is so perfect it makes me gasp and do a little office chair dance. Example: this chic, summery ensemble sported by Freida Pinto on her way out of “The Today Show” studios. I love the dreamy yellow dress, the crisp blazer, and trendy details like the colorful snakeskin bag, oversize sunglasses, and raspberry lipstick. Perhaps the best accessories of all? Those exquisite eyebrows! Damn, girl. [Photo: Fame/Flynet]
Nylon‘s April cover girl Freida Pinto came out Tuesday night to celebrate the mag’s 13th anniversary in LA in head-to-toe Prada. While the gorgeous Indian actress usually sticks to simple solids on the red carpet, she veered off the beaten path for the event in a colorblocked frock unlike anything we’ve ever seen: the skirt of her dress was embellished with Prada’s flaming car print from the Italian fashion house’s spring/summer collection. The dress on its own doesn’t do it for me, but the addition of the kitschy graphic is the perfect accelerator to take this ensemble from ho-hum to vroom vroom. I personally couldn’t pull off this irreverent look, but Freida does without a hitch. What say you: are you feeling this cheeky design?
“Immortals” hit theaters today, and in addition to excess male eye-candy and a lackluster plotline, we get to see Freida Pinto’s booty in a steamy scene with Henry Cavill … or at least what appears to be her booty. “It was a butt double. I’m relieved I don’t have to deal with that issue,” she told E! Online. [Just Jared]
Pinto is not alone, be it by choice of morals or vanity, famous stars have opted for body doubles in nude scenes for years. Find out which glorified forms aren’t as authentic as they appear to be.
We all know that Freida Pinto, star of the Oscar-winning film “Slumdog Millionaire,” is a gorgeous Indian woman. So why in the hell did L’Oreal try to Photoshop her into a white lady? [ONTD] Keep reading »
Artist Julian Schnabel—the dude behind both “Before Night Falls” and “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”—is one of my favorite directors for making beautiful, tough, touching stories with artistic flare. His newest one, “Miral,” didn’t make a huge splash at the box office, but is very worthy of a viewing and it’s out out on DVD today. In it, Freida Pinto plays Miral, a Palestinian girl who is brought up in an safe house in Jerusalam and, as she ventures outside at age 17, finds herself drawn toward intifada.
“Because ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ was such a big hit, there was a lot of pressure in terms of what I did next. For my second film, I wanted a role that would stretch me, but all I was getting offered were stereotypical parts like the goofy Indian sidekick. Asian actors tend not to be sent Hollywood scripts that are substantial or challenging. I’m likely to be offered the roles of a terrorist, cab driver and smart geek. I want to show that I have versatility. You have to remember that, before ‘Slumdog,’ the last film about India that went big at the Oscars was ‘Gandhi,’ as played by Ben Kingsley. The fact that me and Freida [Pinto, his girlfriend] have any kind of platform in Hollywood is a big step forward.”
