“I do think that Fred has a very unwavering optimism that is infectious. He’s very kind, very generous, and I think more than anything, Fred says ‘yes’ … And I love saying ‘yes’. I think it’s an important step in human growth. Just an openness. And if there’s anything that I’ve learned from my friendship with Fred, it’s just voicing an openness for possibilities and not being afraid of them.”

“Portlandia” co-star and Sleater-Kinney member Carrie Brownstein swears that Fred Armisen has changed her life. Their deep and sometimes confusing bond sounds a lot more rewarding than most Hollywood relationships. Carrie once told Elle magazine that her friendship with Fred is “one of the most intimate, functional, romantic, but nonsexual relationships we’ve ever had.” Somebody call Harry and Sally — this  pair has figured out the magic formula for a friendship without sex getting in the way. (For what it’s worth, Fred’s ex-wife, “Mad Men” star Elisabeth Moss, called their brief marriage “extremely traumatic and awful and horrible.” So there’s that.) [NYmag.com Vulture] [Image via Getty]

Elisabeth Moss Doesn’t Have Good Things To Say About Split From Fred Armisen

“One of the greatest things I heard someone say about him is, ‘He’s so great at doing impersonations. But the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person.’ To me that sums it up … I don’t want to waste any more of my life talking about it.”

– “Mad Men”‘s Elisabeth Moss opens up for the first time about her short marriage to “Saturday Night Live”/”Portlandia” comedian Fred Armisen in Page Six Magazine. Oooh, burn. As for whether the two keep in touch? “Oh, god, no,” Moss said. Yikes. [Page Six]

“I guess that [the things "Portlandia" makes fun of] are ridiculous, but at the same time they’re things that I embrace — it’s a set of behaviors and an ideology that I enact, and that I think many of us sort of perform or follow. But then, at the same time, as you’re doing it, I think there is an awareness sometimes that probably somewhere, for someone else, there is a bigger battle than, you know, making sure that your fresh pasta is local, or whether or not the ingredients are organic. Meet Fred Armisen and Charlyne Yi, Treasure Hunters

In another life, I will come back half as cool as Charlyne Yi. This actress/comedian/adorable creature gets to hang out with fun bands, be in cool movies, and now, she’s on the coolest kids show ever, guest starring alongside Fred Armisen on “Yo Gabba Gabba” as a treasure hunting explorer. Le sigh. [NYMag] Keep reading »
