A First Look At Fred Armisen And Carrie Brownstein’s “Portlandia”

I know what I’ll be doing Friday, January 21, 2011, at 10:30 p.m. EST: watching “Portlandia,” duh. “Saturday Night Live”‘s Fred Armisen and Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein will star in this IFC sitcom mocking the too-PC-for-their-own-good residents of Portland, Oregon. Of course, it’s not actual Portlanders who are being made fun of, but the types of people who dumpster-dive for fruit (ew) and “put birds on things.” [YouTube via IFC] Keep reading »

Jane Lynch Bosses Fred Armisen Around

We’re unusually excited about this week’s “Saturday Night Live” since Jane Lynch is hosting. Our favorite cheerleading coach, Sue Sylvester, is sure to shake the lameness out of “SNL” if these hilarious promos with Fred Armisen are any indication. [Best Week Ever] Keep reading »

Fred Armisen & Carrie Brownstein Are Getting Their Own Show!

I have never been to Portland, Oregon, but I can imagine how annoying some people who live there might be. Possibly even more annoying than the ones who live in Brooklyn. So I thank the heavens for “Saturday Night Live”‘s Fred Armisen and ex-Sleater-Kinney guitarist Carrie Brownstein, who will enlighten us all when their new sitcom, “Portlandia,” debuts on the IFC channel. Jon Hamm Brings His Matchmaking Prowess Back To “SNL”

The first time Jon Hamm hosted “Saturday Night Life,” cast member Fred Armisen met his future wife, Elisabeth Moss, during a “Mad Men” skit. Who will Jon Hamm’s Patented Lurve-Making Magic work on this Saturday? (Also, do you think getting rid of that awful Grizzly Man beard was a pre-condition of Jon’s hosting?) [NBC] Keep reading »

Elisabeth Moss & Fred Armisen Are The Epitome Of Nerdy Cool Love

Doesn’t it seem like Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss were playing their “Mad Men” characters with their recent nuptials? When Christina, aka Joan, got married in July, she talked extensively to InStyle Wedding beforehand, telling them all about her dress and how fiancé Geoffrey Arend proposed under a chandelier. After the wedding, she released lavish photos to People. Meanwhile, Elisabeth, aka Peggy, was mums the word about her wedding to Fred Armisen of “Saturday Night Live.” But surprise! They got hitched over the weekend in a simple wedding held in Long Island City, New York. Even though Moss appeared on “The View” on Friday, she played ultra-coy about her big day. When Barbara Walters asked her about the wedding date, Elisabeth said, “I can’t tell you that,” even though a more spotlight-loving celeb would’ve barked, “In 48 hours!” In fact, Moss didn’t make any kind of announcement about the wedding at all—Whoopi Goldberg, a friend of Moss’ after they worked on “Girl, Interrupted” together, broke the news as a follow-up on yesterday’s episode of “The View.” Keep reading »

Fred Armisen Is Addicted To “Intervention”

Like us, “Saturday Night Live” comedian Fred Armisen is addicted to “Intervention.” His dependency on the A&E show is so bad he watches 21 episodes a day and it’s negatively affecting his relationships with his fiancée (Elisabeth Moss, you know, from “Mad Men”), agent, and friends. His loved ones knew an intervention was their last hope of saving Fred from utter destruction when they found out that he had … been watching episodes of “Intervention” while driving. His harrowing story, above. Keep reading »
