Hey, Did You Know Mariah Carey Is Pregnant?

Rich over at fourfour created this awesome cut of Mariah Carey on the Home Shopping Network yesterday talking about being pregnant about 4,000 times, about perfume about 3,567 times, and generally reclining like the Queen of Sheba on a sofa as co-hosts get treated like the lowly subjects they are about 789 times. Also, she collects perfume bottles, and she wants you to know. Granted, the woman had six hours to fill while hawking her holiday album, fragrance, and existence, but the woman is a diva. And I mean that in a good way. Sort of. [fourfour] Keep reading »

Does The Bottle For Katy Perry’s Perfume Make You Want To Purr?

So unless you’ve been under a rock or don’t understand the evolution of celebrity branding, the fact that Katy Perry is releasing a fragrance shouldn’t be news to you. (We even showed you the extremely sexy and playful ad here.) But now, we’re getting a glimpse at the fragrance bottle, and we have to say it looks exactly like we’d imagine a fragrance called Purr would. Keep reading »

Beauty Test Drive: Kate Spade’s New Eau De Parfum, Twirl

Watermelon wouldn’t be our first choice for an eau de parfum. Who shops for fragrances thinking, “Hey, I’d really like to smell like a watermelon today?” To be more accurate, the official scents in Kate Spade‘s new eau de parfum Twirl are “pink watermelon, blackberry and red current with additional notes of orange blossom, star jasmine, sweet magnolia, and French macaron.” I would describe Twirl as “chic fruity”: you’ll smell like a fancy lady who shops at Kate Spade, but one with a whimsical and girly side. Beauty Test Drive: Calvin Klein Beauty Fragrance

It’s not every day I come across a fragrance that can be worn year round, but Calvin Klein Beauty is appropriate for summer, fall, and whenever feels right. With notes of jasmine and neo-lily (a new interpretation of a lily), Beauty has a floral essence we’ve all come to identify with summer. But the top notes of ambrette seeds give the fragrance a spicy warmth that’s comforting this chilly time of year. Cedarwood adds a rugged familiarity. The heavenly scent lingers in the air and isn’t immediately identifiable. (Don’t you just hate when you recognize your favorite perfume on a stranger, and she smells as if she doused herself in it?) The end result is a fragrance that’s both feminine and sophisticated. [$65 for 1.7 oz., Macy’s] Keep reading »

Frisky Q&A: Gwen Stefani Talks Harajuku Lovers Fragrances & Being A Working Mom

Gwen Stefani will launch five more Harajuku Lovers fragrances, called Wicked Style, Nov. 1. This time around, G and the Harajuku Girls — Love, Lil Angel, Music, and Baby — are back in Tokyo on Takeshita-Dori, a pedestrian-only street where fashionable people go to chill, and are dressed in fashions that originated in Japan — gothic Lolita, sweet Lolita, visual Kei, Kawaii, and Omotesandō girl. Gwen loves building a story for her Harajuku Girls perfumes as much as she enjoys creating perfume bottles that double as works of art. But what’s it like to create five fragrances at a time when it takes other celebrities years to create just one? A few other bloggers and I had the chance to chat with Gwen backstage at her L.A.M.B. spring 2011 fashion show, where she talked about the new Wicked Style fragrances, being a mom and designer, and her personal beauty choices. Quotable: Marc Jacobs Explains Why He Was Naked For Bang Ad

“I’m not Tom Ford in terms of the grooming and the knowledge of clothes and the precision and perfection of getting dressed. There’s nothing I can wear in this ad that isn’t going to look ridiculous. At one point, I tried jeans and a shirt, and it didn’t work. So then Juergen said, ‘Take off the clothes. So I did, and that became the ad … I did feel good about the way I looked, so it was easy and—well, a guy looks better to me with no clothes on than with clothes! How’s that?”
