Krystal Ball: Enough With The Sexy Photos, Let’s Get Back To Business

Krystal Ball, the Virginia Congressional candidate whose sexy photos were posted by a right-wing smear blog attempting to discredit her campaign, never intended to steal the 24-hour news cycle away from Christine “I Am Not A Witch” O’Donnell. But 28-year-old Ball has no desire to feed tabloid fodder. She spent a week giving media interviews and even released a brilliant statement on how she would not let dirty politics humiliate her. But this morning, Ball announced she is back to focusing on her campaign. In a statement released the morning, provided to us by Krystal Ball For Congress, she said:

“I felt it was important to speak out on this issue and I have done so. I believe that I was treated fairly by the media and able to answer to the voters of Virginia. Now they deserve a discussion regarding issues such as reforming government, getting people back to work and improving our education system. I feel deeply blessed to be interviewing for the job of Congresswoman in front of the citizen’s of the first district of Virginia. I will not be granting any additional interviews on this issue for the remainder of the campaign.”

  • It was inevitable: Sarah Palin has signed with the Fox News Channel to appear “on a regular basis” as part of “a multi-year deal.” Alaska’s ex-guv will allegedly not get her own show, but instead “will host an occasional series.” Any guesses what her sure-to-be-entertaining series will cover? Put ‘em in the comments. [New York Times]
  • State Rep. Christine Johnson (D), a lesbian lawmaker in Utah, has announced she will be a surrogate parent for two gay male friends. Her pals are lucky to have a friend like Johnson: Utah’s state law forbids gay couples from adopting or being foster parents. [Salt Lake Tribune]
  • Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Al Franken (D-MN) have sponsored the Compassionate Care for Servicewomen Act, which would require that the morning-after pill be stocked as a core medicine at every military health care facility. [blog.alfranken.com]

Fox News Interview Dissolves Into Flirtfest

Here’s another example of the “quality journalism” that goes on over at Fox News. In a segment about finding jobs, anchor Ainsley Earhardt interviews Uri Man on advice for job seekers. Ainsley starts out on the right path, but is immediately sidetracked when Uri compliments her yellow ensemble. Uri returns to the topic, for a sec, creepily mentioning how he read about Ainsley and knows where she went to college. Then Ainsley comments on Uri’s pink shirt and flirts with him. Click above to watch the first date interview. We wonder if they did it after this segment? [Huffington Post] Keep reading »

New mom, Bristol Palin, appeared on Fox News last night to talk about what it’s like to be a new mother, in an interview she scheduled without giving her famous mom, Sarah Palin, much warning. Then she and Greta Van Susteren got to talking about abstinence and Bristol dropped a bomb, saying, “abstinence is not realistic at all.” So much for Mommy Knows Best! Keep reading »

On the website, Dr. Yvonne Kristin Fulbright is the network’s in-house “FOXSexpert.” In her column, Fulbright offers conservative news-mongers sex tips and advice that are downright raunchy. From sado-masochism to premature ejaculation, celebrity sex tapes to transcendental orgasms, it’s Fox gone wild. After the jump, the best of the sex that Fox News has to offer.

    Breakup Via Wikipedia and Ebay

It took a few years, but manly ingenuity has finally found a worse way to break up with someone than on a post-it note. Wikipedia creator Jimmy Wales dumped his girlfriend, Fox News commentator Rachel Marsden, through a post on his own website. The recently divorced website mogul took notice of the cute Canadian conservative because her Wikipedia page was splashed with haterade. When Marsden asked for some help editing the site, Wales offered to get her out of one sticky situation and into another via IM. The best part is, just like the breakup, you can read what they typed with one hand online thanks to his competitors at Google, whose sites’ features allowed her to save their Gchat convos. When Wales threatened to have her deported after the split, Ms. Marsden, who has a history of harassing ex-boyfriends, decided to retaliate by emailing the IMs around to the press and using eBay to sell the personal items he left behind at her apartment. One of his t-shirts with a big “white stain” is going for over $12,000. Um, why? Keep reading »
