Forbes’ List Of Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Stars Contains Only One Chick

Ceaseless listmaker Forbes Magazine has rolled out yet another roundup and this one is about Hollywood’s most overpaid stars. Forbes’ peeps looked at how much each flick made compared to the celeb’s salary. We weren’t surprised to see that only one of the top 10 overpaid stars was a woman—Drew Barrymore. Obvs! Women have a lot of problems in this world, but getting overpaid is not one of them. Will Ferrell came in at numero uno because his last movie made a measly $3.29 for every dollar he was paid. After the jump, the other uber-paid offenders. Keep reading »

Forbes’ List Of The Top-Earning DEAD Celebs Freaks Us Out

So much for resting in peace. Forbes magazine even wants dead celebs to work hard for their money. They just released a list titled “Top Earning Dead Celebrities.” Of course, the primo place is not filled by anyone predictable. Apparently, the most valuable “deleb” is designer Yves Saint Laurent. Earlier this year, an auction of this dude’s belongings raked in about $443 million in three days. The duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein hold down spot number two for creating musicals like “South Pacific,” “Oklahoma,” and “The Sound of Music.” Michael Jackson is number three and Elvis Presley, who usually secures the top spot, is at #4. But the list gets weirder … Keep reading »

Tyra Makes Bank!

Forbes has released its annual list of “Prime-Time’s Top-Earning Women.” And who wants to be on top? Tyra Banks out-posed the competition, earning $30 million last year—almost twice as much as uber-annoying Katherine Heigl, who clocked in at number two in the survey at $18 million. I couldn’t even pick the third highest earner, Marg Helgenberger, out of a lineup, even though she made $9.5 million last year. All I have to say is that Tina Fey needs to tell her agent to up the ante, because she deserves to out-earn all three of those ladies for writing and starring in one of the best shows on TV. Heck, Tina can even make an American Express commercial enjoyable. In the meantime, I’m sure Tyra is smeyesing all the way to the bank. [The Wrap]

After the jump, the full breakdown of who earned what. Keep reading »

Forbes’ “100 Most Powerful Women” List Makes No Sense To Us

Forbes‘ annual “Powerful Women” issue hits newsstands tomorrow, but their 2009 list of the 100 most powerful women in the world has left us scratching our heads. The magazine insists the list is based on power, not popularity. They go by press mentions and the size of the country, business or organization the woman runs. But that doesn’t explain why German Chancellor Angela Merkel is at number one for the fourth year in a row. I’ll admit, she has been in the news a lot lately. But only because she’s up for re-election and campaign posters showing her in a low-cut top have generated mucho controversy. After the jump, see the other unlikely gals in the top ten. Women (Especially Angelina) Top Forbes List Of Most Powerful Celebrities

Women are on top of the world—the celeb world that is. Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey, Madonna and Beyonce Knowles claimed the top four spots on Forbes’ just-released 2009 Celebrity 100 List. Actually, a quarter of the list is female including some of our favorites: Twilight author, Stephenie Meyer (#26), Ellen DeGeneres (#40), Meryl Streep (#64), Serena Williams (#67), Taylor Swift (#69), Gisele Bundchen (#72) and race car driver Danica Patrick (#100). The real shocker is, of course, that Angelina snagged the top spot from Oprah, who’s been number one for the last two years running. Although Oprah earned 10 times more than Angie last year, she apparently didn’t get as much star-studded coverage in mags and newspapers and on TV. What’s especially strange is that Forbes cites Jolie’s blockbuster “Wanted” as a major reason she reached this pinnacle. Yeah, it made $340 million, but it’s still got nothing on an Oprah’s Favorite Things episode. Keep reading »
