The first two things that come to mind when I think of fishnet tights are hookers and Halloween. These associations were challenged today when I saw a chic middle-aged woman in a beautiful knee-length dress — and nude fishnets. To my surprise, she looked downright elegant. The key, I learned, is to keep the rest of your look conservative. You want to look like a lady, not a lady of the night. Stay away from trendy jewelry and put on a pair of pearls or faux diamond stud earrings. While it’s still a little chilly to be wearing fishnets in place of tights in most parts of the country, putting on a pair that matches your skin color will ease the transition to bare legs as the weather starts to warm up.
