I am a huge fan of bold sunglasses. In fact, I have a few pairs in my personal collection that even Snooki might think were a bit much. But these — which are basically a pile of skulls and feathers glued to the top of a pair of specs that were not that cute in the first place — kind of make my heart hurt. My head too, because those suckers can’t be light. And my wallet, most of all, because their original price was a cool $350. Ouch. [$175 on sale, Karmaloop]
Confession: I totally had feather extensions put in my hair a few days ago. And then I had them taken out. Turns out my hair is so thick that the feathers get buried and become nearly invisible. I would need to glue an entire bird to my head in order to make any kind of a fashion statement. Since I’d rather not go that route, I’m thinking about alternatives, and I’m liking the look of this single-side feather earring. It’s very bohemian cool, and unlike those extensions, it doesn’t require pliers to remove it. Always a plus.
Way back in January, Julie wrote about the awesomeness of feather hair extensions. I’ve always thought they were cute, but wasn’t totally sold on them until I saw them in action at my friend Becca’s wedding. Becca’s sister was wearing a simple black bridesmaid’s dress and a few strands of striped feathers in her blond hair. The feathers added such a cool bohemian vibe to her outfit, and I’ve been scouring Etsy shops for a similar look ever since. So I was wondering: how do you guys feel about this trend? Would you wear feather extensions? [$22, Etsy] Keep reading »

I’m still hoping to one day live a lifestyle befitting of daily headdress adornment. Until then, no feathers for me. Keep reading »
Regular hair extensions are so 2010. Step into the future of hair extensions with colorful feather-y extensions from Wendy Nichols. We’re not saying we’d wear these every day–to the grocery store or the post office, per se–but Nichols’ colorful extensions are perfect for a night out. [Refinery 29] Keep reading »
Growing up with “The Muppets” has been a way of life for the children of the last several generations. The quirky and adorable creatures taught us how to sing, dance, and work things out with friends. And as much as we owe them for all of the life lessons they’ve taught us, the way to pay them back is not by wearing a ridiculous feather and sequin “confection.” This dress is just like a Muppet who was hit by a car –depressing, expensive and in the end–very, very ugly.
