Victoria Beckham Brings Baby Harper To Fashion Week!

Only Victoria’s Beckham’s newborn daughter would have a Baby’s First Fashion Week!

The former Spice Girl and little Harper Seven — who is just shy of two-months-old — were spotted in New York City today ahead of Fashion’s Night Out, the official kickoff to NY Fashion Week.

While Posh looked fab in a magenta dress and suede Christian Louboutin heels, Harper rocked a plaid dress and grey socks … no red soles for her yet! Read more…

Shopping Guide: 10 Flower Prints Inspired By Peter Som

We couldn’t help but fall a little bit for Peter Som’s exuberant, larger-than-life flower prints in his Spring/Summer 2012 collection. So we’ve searched around and found 10 pieces that evoke the same sense of joy and happiness that Som’s flowers do, without the majorly bummer price tag. The key to wearing any of these floral items? Make sure to keep everything else very, very basic. Check out our picks!

Fashion Week Breakdown: Yummy Colors, Fun Prints & Nekkid Shoulders At BCBG

This morning, on my way to work at the bright-eyed hour of 8 a.m., I was joined in the elevator by one of the long and lithe fashion models that live in my apartment building. I don’t see them that often, as they tend to keep odder hours than my usual nine-to-five. I wonder why she’s up to early? I wondered, covertly starring (up) at her as the floors ticked downward. Her face was scrubbed free of makeup and she was thumbing through an appointment book. Oh wait! Duh. It’s fashion week, I recalled. I had blocked it out sort of. I very much love clothes, but I am not particularly fond of discussing them in great depth, which is why I “read” Luckylike a picture book. And that is exactly how we are going to be presenting some of the Spring/Summer 2012 collections being shown at New York Fashion Week; pithy intros plus photos of pretty clothes! First up is BCBG, a line that is actually kind of sort of affordable for us non-rich types. Three things I love about this collection:

        1. The colors: Lime! Lemonade! Cerulean! (I think?)
        1. The prints: The Missoni-esque stripes are lovely, but I’m especially obsessed with the mix of more “ethnic” prints with architectural color-blocking.
        1. The open shoulders: I’m sorry, but who doesn’t have gorgeous shoulders? This trend is something I can get behind because it would flatter everyone.

That, my friends, is as “fashion talk-y” as I am going to get today. Click onward to see a bunch of the looks from the BCBG Spring/Summer 2012 runway show!

Sit Front Row At Fashion Week From The Comfort Of Your Home

Fashion Week, if you care about that kind of thing, is only a week away. But if you haven’t managed to secure front row seats alongside Anna, an Olsen or Posh Spice, you’re in luck. Several of the shows will be streamed on YouTube’s new Live From the Runway . The channel will allow viewers both on the runway and backstage, to see what really goes on during NYFW. Victoria Beckham’s High-Heel Dreams Come Tumbling Down

Nobody tells Victoria Beckham that she’s not allowed to wear the highest of sky high heels whenever she wants. That’s practically sacrilege! But owing to complications from the recent birth of her daughter Harper Seven, Beckham’s doctors have requested that Posh stick to flats. It seems Beckham suffered a slipped disk during her pregnancy, and the heels threaten to significantly worsen her condition. So look for a significantly shorter Victoria during upcoming fashion week. Already, it seems, fashion sites are forecasting a flat trend. We’ll believe it when we see it — and Beckham actually following doctors orders. After all, this is a woman who donned 7-inch Louboutin heels while she was pregnant. [Daily Mail] Keep reading »

The Prettiest Girl On The Runway Is A Boy

Meet Andrej Pejic, the fresh-faced model that’s stomping down the Paris runways this fashion week for Jean Paul Gautier. Pejic isn’t just a typical pretty face, because she’s a he. And, he says, he’d even consider a sex change if he were given a contract with Victoria’s Secret. “Yes, if I was offered a Victoria’s Secret contract. You’d have to, wouldn’t you,” said Pejic. “I can’t imagine doing it any other way. But, at this point I’m comfortable with who I am now.”

What’s crazier? That a male model would consider a sex change for a job, or that we now live in a world where the female ideal is a male body? You tell me. [Huffington Post] Keep reading »

Models Falling Remains The Best Part Of Fashion Week

I’m sorry. Perhaps it’s unkind of me, but I just can’t NOT laugh at a model stumbling down a runway in ridiculous high heels. This poor catwalker just cannot recover from the initial ankle twisting and has to hobble her way backstage like her legs are made of jelly. Keep reading »

A High-Fashion Baptism

Backstage during Fashion Week, hairstylists and makeup artists often have to improvise. This model — who’s being prepped to walk in the Tommy Hilfiger show — got a quick hair rinse, likely because of product buildup from the other wacky hairdos she wore that day. Keep reading »

The Models Are Shedding!

Don’t fret — the models at Zang Toi’s runway show weren’t losing their hair in big, poofy clumps. These tufts were added to their heads like mini palace guard hair hats! See the completed look, after the jump… [2/13/11, NY Fashion Week, Fall/Winter 2011] Keep reading »

Make-Up Application? Or Nose-Picking?

Don’t worry — that’s a makeup artist’s finger, not the model’s! Model’s never pick their own noses in public. [2/11/11, Rebecca Minkoff, NY Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011] Keep reading »
