Julie: So Johnny Galliano, eh? THAT GUY.

Rachel: Old Johnny that scoundrel.

Julie: We haven’t really heard much from him. Then last week, Oscar de la Renta offered him a residency. And this week? He shows up at the Oscar de la Renta show dressed as a Hassidic Jew. Keep reading »

New York Fashion Week Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear: Days 5 & 6

Amazingly, Fashion People were undeterred by the foot-plus of snow we received this weekend, and New York Fashion Week carried on as usual. Total champs — we certainly can’t say the same about our weekend, which we spent contained safely indoors in front of the television. This is just a small selection from the many, many incredible shows that took place over the weekend and into this week. Let’s see what Alexander Wang, Monique Lhuillier, Victoria Beckham, Derek Lam, Zac Posen, and Marc by Marc Jacobs have in mind for the Autumn/Winter 2013 season… Keep reading »

The Good, The Bad & The WTF: amFAR New York Gala 2013

Each season, New York Fashion Week kicks off with the American Foundation for AIDS Research (better known as amfAR) Gala. This year’s party was a little bit different, because while the guest list always reads like a who’s who of fashion big shots, supermodels, and stylish starlets, that generally doesn’t include Lindsay Lohan. Hmmmmm. Check out what Lindsay and 10 other famous faces wore in the gallery above!

Carine's Resignation
Did she or didn't she? Read More »

Carine Roitfeld recently bemoaned the exclusivity of fashion shows, revealing her own opinion that young people who love fashion should be able to see it. (In fact, it’s this very conviction that drives her to take two spectators in with her each time she goes to see a show — so cute!) It’s true: you’ve got to have Notoriety with a capital “N” (for nepotism, of course) to land your lucky self an invite to Fashion Week. While it sure doesn’t beat being personally escorted by the former EIC of French Vogue, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week partner IMG has offered us Regular Folk a new in at the events this year by teaming up with online video platform Rightster to host streaming video of the runway. More than half of the shows in New York this season, which begins today and ends the 14th, will be available to watch both live and on-demand afterward, should you happen to miss your favorite. You can find the full list of shows, dates, and times, complete with links to the live stream, here at International Business Times.

All The Looks From Paris Haute Couture Week: Day 5

Style Stealer: Leelee Sobieski’s Greyscale Layers

Leelee Sobieski has been in so many great films and one particularly outstanding TV miniseries adapted from one of my favorite books ever (ahem, “Les Liaisons dangereuses”). It’s crazy to think that the NYC native is only 29. Leelee took some time off from the industry the past few years after getting married and having her first child, but with a few new credits under her belt and a few artful public appearances (looking flawless, might I add), we’ve got our cards stacked in favor of the actress’s big-screen comeback. While she showed her support for good friend Raf Simons at the Christian Dior show, we fell in love with her chic basics. This smart greyscale look is the perfect way to elevate all-black — Leelee shows us how. Keep reading »

Paris Haute Couture Week Spring 2013: Day 3

We’re jumping in halfway through Paris Couture Week, but better late than never, I always say! Racism In French Elle
An article on "black style" sparks controversy, rightly so. Read More »

Because fashion never puts a moratorium on being weirdly racially-charged (but not quite “racist”): French house Céline showed yesterday at Paris Fashion Week, and while the clothes were perfection (as Céline is wont to be), things got weird with the footwear, including some AstroTurf offerings and, um, these. They’re to die for, I know, but don’t get too attached: they only come in one shade, Caucasian. Honestly, I think this is less of a “diversity oversight” and more like this may very well be the only pair because who would actually wear them? Seriously, who? What’s bothering me infinitely more than the racial implications is the realistic bunching (wrinkles?) around the heel. I’m gagging. [NY Mag]

Another fall, another round of intense fashion weeks. Whether we’re talking Melbourne or Milan, one thing remains a constant — there are a lot of damn boobs on the runway. And sometimes they fall out of their shirts or stand at attention under sheer underthings. Here, we’ve captured the latest round of boobs on display during the spring/summer 2013 fashion week season. Don’t say we never did nothin’ for ya.
