10 NYFW Beauty Trends That Work In Real Life

The Only 10 NYFW Beauty Trends That Work In Real Life

We’ve seen the craziest beauty trends from New York Fashion Week, and now it’s time for the beauty looks you can actually wear. There were lots of wild looks at NYFW including rainbow brows and words spelled out of hair, but there were plenty of hair and makeup ideas that work off the runway. The best part is, you don’t have to wait until spring to try them out. Grab an eyeliner and some red lipstick and try one of these looks now.

Here are 10 beauty loks from New York Fashion Week that you need to try out! See them all over at The Gloss…

Watch Fashion Week Spectators Lie Their Faces Off To Sound Hip

Chandler Bing...The Fashion Designer

Jimmy Kimmel sent a camera crew to New York Fashion Week to ask people their opinions on made-up designers, and not one of them missed a beat in diving right into a lie about knowing all about Chandler Bing’s fashion line. Because the fashion world is borderline ridiculous, these unsuspecting folks also didn’t blink an eye when at the names of bullshit clothing lines by “designers” Betsy Ross, Phil Robertson and Antonin Scalia. Facepalm. [Death & Taxes]

The Best Of NYFW: J. Crew Loosens Up

Nearly every day I’m wearing something on my person that came from J. Crew. I am a disciple; an unofficial, uncompensated walking advertisement; a diehard fan of their toothpick jeans, Capri flip-flops, Everly pumps and assorted overpriced sweatshirts that I refuse to buy unless they’re on sale. And come spring, I will no doubt be adding at least a handful of the items shown as part of the brand’s NYFW collection. Spoiler alert: Tight, constricting fabrics and silhouettes are out, and baggy — baggy shorts, baggy shirts, baggy jackets — are IN.

The Best Of NYFW: Rebecca Minkoff’s Breezy Pastels & Beachy Stripes

The Best Of NYFW: Rebecca Minkoff’s Breezy Pastels AND Beachy Stripes

Hey guys, I’m off to Cinque Terre in Italy and all I’m bringing with me is an Italian dictionary, a camera and a suitcase full of all the clothes from Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection. Ciao, prometto di scrivere!

Just kidding. I’m not going to Cinque Terre and I certainly don’t have a suitcase full of Minkoff’s silky pastel dresses and tanks or airy striped shirts and skirts. But a girl can dream. Check out some of my faves from the collection below!

The Best Of NYFW: Rachel Comey’s Raw-Hemmed Glamour

The Best Of NYFW: Rachel Comey's Raw-Hemmed Glamour

Rachel Comey consistently makes clothes for the most glamorous arts and crafts teacher you’ve ever met in your life. Her latest collection shown at NYFW is no exception. Tons of volume — one can’t be too encumbered when in the midst of a macrame project! — a mixture of neutrals and nature-plucked colors (I love the red and purple moments, especially), and fabric edges left raw rather than perfectly hemmed, like her muse got fed up and went at them with a pair of sheers. Wearing clothes like this in real life is all about proportions. A voluminous swing dress works best at a mini length with heels — heeled clogs, preferably. Check out some of my fave pieces from Rachel Comey’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection below!

The Best Of NYFW: Jill Stuart’s Feminine Take On ’70s Utilitarian Cool

While I love clothes, spend way too much time pinning shit I cannot afford on Pinterest and love assembling fake outfits in Photoshop for regular style features like One Times Three and Fashion Math, I do not consider myself a fashion person. That’s probably why writing about my favorite shows at New York Fashion Week always results in me using and abusing the English language because I don’t know how to do so in a way that doesn’t sound ridiculous. For example, the headline on this post about Jill Stuart’s runway show — “[a] feminine take on ’70s utilitarian cool.” I know what I mean – that the collection had some crunchy, granola, ’70s vibes, with both an air of practicality and femininity to the clothing — but goddamn is it hard to briefly capture in a way that doesn’t sound outrageously stupid. So I decided to embrace it. Please enjoy my dumb headline above and the awesome clothes from Jill Stuart’s spring/summer 2015 runway collection below!
