Melbourne’s Fashion Week is on right now, but what’s happening on the streets is just as interesting as the catwalk. Maybe it’s because Australia’s a bit more isolated from the rest of the fashion world, but the street style in Melbourne is really on point. We could all learn a thing or two from these girls …
Paris Fashion Week is my favorite for many reasons, not all of which are a direct result of my all-encompassing Francophilia. I love the grandiose clothes marched down the catwalk, the sense of total, no-holds-barred luxury, and, well, the refined French-ness of it all. It also helps that many of the most iconic designers show there. Whatever the reason, I haunt Style.com for eight days, clicking furiously until the latest coverage appears, then I drink it all in with my eyes wide and mathematically assess my chances of wedding an impossibly wealthy, possibly corrupt oligarch who has the means to finance all of my wildest fashion dreams. Just kidding! As someone whose personal mantra is “think rich, look poor,” ballroom confections aren’t my thing. What I do covet straight off the runway is the beauty. It certainly helps that models are beautiful to begin with, but the makeup artists who serve them have all but mastered the art of taking pretty perfect canvases and turning them into flawless works of art. Here are my favorite beauty looks, hot off the runway. Tell me — which of these faces would you like to try yourself? [all images via Style Bistro]
Louis Vuitton is basically synonymous with luxury, so it’s no surprise that the brand goes all-out for its shows … especially with one Marc Jacobs at the helm. If you thought last season’s stunning life-size carousel was unbeatable, well, think again. As is fitting for a collection heavily influenced by “the golden age of rail travel,” Jacobs and team Vuitton truly outdid themselves with a custom-painted, LV-branded steam locomotive that transported the models out onto the runway. I can only daydream about the kinds of shows Marc would produce should he be tapped for la Maison Dior … [Fashionista]
Ah! Paris Fashion Week! The best fashion week of them all, if you ask me. We’ve assembled more of our favorite looks from the Paris shows, and will be updating our survey throughout the week. So check back early and often!
Ah! Paris Fashion Week! The best fashion week of them all, if you ask me. Where designers like Chloe, Julien David and Gareth Pugh convene to show off their latest collections and the fashion crowd still smokes ciggies and acts totally bored. We’ve assembled our favorite looks from the first round of Paris shows, and will be updating our survey throughout the week. So check back early, and often!
Boobs happen. Everywhere. Even on the fanciest runways of some of the top fashion houses in the world. Whether they’re intentional — as in the sheer confections of the latest Christian Dior collection — or unintentional — like when a model’s nipple accidentally slips out of a silky gown, there are an awful lot of boobies on the runway. And we’ve collected some of our favorite just for you in this very, very NSFW gallery. Check out all the fabulous breasts after the jump.
Check out this model backstage at the Fyodor Golan F/W 2012 fashion show in London. That’s right, New York fashion week is over, but London’s is just beginning. Golan’s show featured a model in head-t0-toe lizard-like green paint. That’s going to be a messy post-show shower.
New York Fashion Week F/W has come to a close, and we’ve seen all that the designers had to offer in their Fall/Winter 2012 Ready-to-Wear collections. We’ve assembled all of our favorite fall/winter looks from the shows in this gallery — tell us what you think of these designers’ looks in the comments!
Well isn’t this a nice change now. Taylor Momsen wearing something other than undergarments and bloody, ripped fishnet stockings with thigh-high boots that could be used as arsenal in their own rights. And doesn’t she just look lovely?
Taylor here was photographed at New York’s Fashion week, where she kept the company of Stacy Keibler, Bar Refaeli, and other prolific women not generally known for using electrical tape on their nippies, sacrificing goats onstage or wearing black leather all of the time and hooking up with questionably-aged music fans. Maybe girlfriend could take a few pointers from these classy ladies, huh? Read more…
