7 Apple Picking Lessons Worth Applying To Real Life

Not to sound like a fall cliche of a human being, but this weekend I went apple picking on a small farm in New England. And as these activities which snap you out of your everyday routine tend to, apple picking led to my own mini-spiritual awakening. As I was harvesting my bushel of fruit and feeling one with nature, I had a few bite-sized revelations: Keep reading »

Watch This: “Pumpkin Spice” Is The Scariest Horror Movie Of The Season

Pumpkin Spice Horror Movie
"Pumpkin is everywhere! It's not even that good!"

Every mid-September, like clockwork, pumpkin spice begins its fast and furious path to total flavor domination. All of a sudden, pumpkin is everywhere — in lattes, cookies, scones, muffins, beer, not to mention countless appearances in overly enthusiastic Facebook status updates. When you think about it, the pumpkin invasion does have all the makings of a good horror movie, which is exactly the premise of this hilarious (and chill-inducing) trailer for a fictional film called “Pumpkin Spice.” Before you push play, beware: you won’t be able to go near a Starbucks for at least a few hours after watching this. It’s official. Fall is here to stay, and the same old dance jams of this summer’s BBQs and lazy beach days feel not quite right.  Fall music is music you listen to wrapped in a scarf and sipping hot chocolate, walking thru freshly raked leaves. Fall music has a little more oomph, because fall is Serious Business.  You’ll need a new soundtrack for handholding, cuddling, briskly shopping, and whatever other treats fall might bring you.  We want to celebrate the glory that is new fall releases, with a healthy dose of some old classics. Throw on this playlist, make a lasagna, bake some cookies, or just sit and watch the light change through the leaves. Keep reading »

7 Reasons Why Autumn Is Absurdly Awesome

We are summer girls here at The Frisky. Amelia and I love a good tan. We ALL love the beach, the long, hazy summer days that meander seamlessly into night, and the glory of throwing on a sundress and heading out into the world. These are the things about summer that we remember in the depths of winter, when it’s been snowing for an eternity and the walk from your apartment to the bodega requires sidestepping mountains of slush. Thankfully, Gaia in her infinite glory presents us with a weather option that neatly straddles the line between the soaring highs of summer and the walloping lows of winter. On the cusp of the official first day of the season, let’s celebrate some amazing things about autumn…

Did you guys get a chance to go to the pumpkin patch this year?
