Steer clear of the knockoffs this holiday season, especially because the feds just did a major sweep of counterfeit goods. It’s called Operation Holiday Hoax II — one of the largest seizures of counterfeit goods in recent history. Everything from Christmas lights, to electronics, to football jerseys were seized in the $77 million dollar operation. And there were an awful lot of faux-designer goods found among the items, including fake Fendi, Coach, Prada, and True Religion items.
Thirty-three people were arrested in the sting, the majority of whom were located in the U.S. An easy way to tell if an item is fake? The packaging. Look for misspelling and bad grammar. [NY Times]
