There was a time in the early ’90s when sunflowers were totally ubiquitous. I’m pretty sure TV’s “Blossom” had a terrible sunflower hat, and sunflowers were the ’90s symbol for some kind of whitewashed take on ’60s bohemianism. So perhaps that’s why I’m not super into the new ads from Prada, featuring supermodels Amber Valletta and Eva Herzigova. There’s so many hateable things about these shots: Firstly, the clothes; second, the styling of Amber’s shoes. And then there’s the tiny fringe somebody put on beautiful Eva Herzigova. Why would you do that to her? Plus, the color palette and makeup seems so purposefully drab. But I don’t know, maybe I’m missing something. Maybe this campaign is actually brilliant and gorgeous and it’s just my janky perspective that’s ruining things. What do you think?
Me-ow! What a way to start the week: Eva Herzigova, 36, Helena Christensen, 40, and Claudia Schiffer, 39, in nothing but thigh-high leather boots and big, blown-out hair. Clearly these “aging supermodels” aren’t doing anything of the sort. The three were shot by photographer Kayt Jones for this month’s i-D magazine. (And for those of you who may need slightly more skin, check out the video of the shoot. Yes, we’re naked lady pushers today, so?) [i-D] Keep reading »
To promote the release of the latest additions to D&G’s Anthology fragrance line, the designers have released a series of sexy ads featuring the original supermodels stripping off their clothes: Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, and Eva Herzigova, among others. With George Michael’s “Freedom” blaring in the background, it’s the ’90s all over again! Schiffer does 18 La Lune (for The Dreamer), Naomi does 3 L’Imperatrice (for The Star), and Eva does 10 La Roue de la Fortune (for The Player) with Fernando Fernandes. Get an eyeful of Naomi and Eva after the jump. Keep reading »
Back when Contempo Casuals made us all total Betties, they probably marketed more sheer tops than Spring Break wet t-shirt contests. And now, almost a decade later, sheer is sexier than ever! The likes of actress Christina Ricci at the Met Costume Gala and model Eva Herzigova at Cannes have strutted down the red carpet in nothing but hot shorts under sheer dresses. Even Courtney Love is rockin’ a see-through slip — although you know she was probably just going to get coffee. But celebs shouldn’t get to have all the fun, here’s how we regular folk can show off!
