This week’s Etsy Spotlight was a total no-brainer. My parents got me this beautiful galaxy print infinity scarf from Etsy shop ShadowplayNYC for Christmas, and I’m so obsessed with it I can barely talk about anything else. It’s made of soft cotton jersey (that’s surprisingly warm!) and printed with a strikingly detailed image of a nebula taken by the Hubble Telescope. Shadowplay was started by “two space-crazed Parsons graduates” who make all of their gorgeous clothing and accessories in NYC using eco-conscious materials and fabric-cutting techniques. Now I’m eyeing this gigantic moon phase scarf and this gorgeous galaxy dress to add to my collection next. Ideally by this time next year, my entire wardrobe will be space-themed. Don’t ask us how we’re only a few days away from 2014 (wasn’t it 1997, like, a week ago?), but even though we can’t answer your “where has the time gone?” questions, we can recommend some lovely wall calendars to help you keep better track of next year. From pugs to Paris to beautifully simple numerical designs, Etsy has got you covered. Click on the gallery to check out our favorites!
It’s no secret that we love cats around here. (And you, too, Lucca!) What better way to show our love to our feline friends than to decorate our Christmas trees and tabletops with some kitty cheer?
Just, um, maybe not these ones.

This Christmas, string up the lights, hang the mistletoe and decorate your tree knowing confidently that your home will provide warmth and comfort to those who enter. Or, you could buy some of these creepy/inappropriate/WTF? Etsy holiday decorations to make your guests squirm with discomfort, which I think is way more fun. For even more merriment, we suggest hiding a Nanny Cam in your home to catch your family members’ reactions when they fatefully meet under the mistletoe that looks like a bundle of dicks.
In the process of devising my holiday card strategy, I realized that trying to dig all my friends’ addresses out of random text messages, email threads, gchat histories, and little scraps of paper tucked around my office was kind of a nightmare. I needed to get organized, and quick. This card file address book turned out to be a really lucky Etsy find — it’s filled with alphabetical tabs and 100 blank sheets of paper that can be moved and arranged however you like. Plus, how cute is that little mailbox graphic? The only way it could be more perfect is if a hot mailman were involved. [$14.95, Etsy]
Nashville-based jewelry artist Nora Catherine makes the most exquisite pieces from chains, beads, and hammered metals. Her whole collection has me drooling, from the hummingbird chandelier earrings to the butterfly wrap ring to the truly stunning tree of life necklace, but I chose to feature her spiral chain hoop earrings because they’re such a fun, unique take on a classic style. They’re just fancy enough to pair with a little black dress for a party, but not too fancy to pair with jeans and a blazer for brunch. Oh! And Nora is generously offering Frisky readers 15% off through the end of December. Use coupon code “15frisky1213″ at checkout, and happy holidays. [Hoop earrings: regularly $67, $56.95 with discount, Etsy]
