Strands from baby’s first haircut. The first tooth. Tiny footprints sunk into clay. Some parents even tuck away the dried stump of the umbilical cord or the stick pregnancy test as a touching memento marking the milestones of their kids. The latest? Breast milk jewelry, on sale at the handmade marketplace Etsy. Few issues polarize mothers more than breast-feeding, and all things related to breast-feeding, so wearing processed breast milk around the neck or in a bracelet has ignited some passions. There’s a lot to love about the Mars rover Curiosity: the fact that while we’re slaving away at the office it’s cruising around Mars collecting data, its informative first-person tweets, the beautiful mohawked man who helped it land successfully on a faraway planet. And now, thanks to a creative Etsy seller, you can wear your Curiosity love on your sleeve–well, your sleeveless mini dress to be exact, printed with a Mars landscape and embellished with a studded Curiosity logo. Designer Shenova also created a Curiosity skirt, tank top, and leggings to round out your NASA-inspired wardrobe. I know what I’ll be requesting for my birthday this year. [Prices range from $40 to $135, Etsy]

I still don’t know why Kim Kardashian is famous, but I’m sure as hell glad she is. Without her, we’d lack someone to carry Kanye’s baby or a reason to care about Lord Scott Disick. But just in case your life, like mine, does not have Kim everywhere, you need a completely ridiculous iPhone case of “crying Kim.” They’re from Etsy.com, of course. I have no words. It sums up everything we feel about Kim: love her enough to put her on a phone, but not without a hint of spite in the form of an awkward crying photo. [Etsy.com]

My big sister Allison egregiously aids and abets my panda obsession. She is the one responsible for almost all my panda crap, most of which sits on the bookshelf above my desk at work: panda mug, panda PEZ dispenser, panda eraser, twin panda Christmas ornaments, a panda figurine, and a panda T-shirt. Now, I have a new panda knickknack I covet: a micro crochet mohair panda. You read that right! This made-to-order panda cutie measures in at 0.8 inches, making him smaller than the pad of your finger. What the shit do I need a micro crochet mohair panda for? Especially one retailing for a cool $78? Who the fuck cares! Allison, my birthday is coming up. [Etsy]
Okay, so Victorian mourning jewelry isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But some of it is prettttty cool. The Victorians were totally obsessed with death. Take Queen Victoria. After her hubby died, she wore black for the rest of her life, and slept with a cast of her husband’s arm. Yeah, not weird at all. Victorians commemorated their passed love ones in a variety of ways — through mourning photography (of you and your recently dead person!) and special mourning jewelry. The style of jewelry was created in part because Victorians thought it was uncouth to wear flashy jewels when you were in mourning, so much of the jewelry is simple and elegant, and made of unusual materials like celluloid and vulcanite. Sometimes, Victorians would snip lockets of their loved ones’ hair and incorporate it into the piece–which makes mourning jewelry the perfect accessory for watching “Beetlejuice” and listening to Smiths records.
Because of its unusual materials, mourning jewelry makes a definite statement. Check out 12 gorgeous pieces after the jump!

We have mixed feelings about Valentine’s Day ourselves. We are probably going to force the cat to snuggle with us and watch all the “Chelsea Lately” episodes in the TiVo queue over Mexican takeout. But some women, somewhere, haven’t given up yet. Some women, somewhere, are dry cleaning their red dress, getting their nails done, and picking out the perfect box of chocolates for this special day.
Those women are not these Etsy models.
Do you loathe all the sappy sweetness surrounding Valentine’s Day, but still want to show your honey some love? If raunchy, sarcastic, and random is more your style, Etsy has got you covered.
