If you like your accessories on the sweet side, you must check out the adorable Etsy shop Clay & Clasp, which is stocked with a wide variety of polymer clay jewelry sculpted to look like sweet treats and cute animals. Adorn yourself with some yummy macaron or cupcake earrings, and slip on a teeny tiny tea set necklace to complete the look. They also have pug cufflinks. I repeat: PUG. CUFFLINKS. Just what your boyfriend’s wardrobe has been missing!

Your relationship with ejaculate doesn’t have to be as bad as Monica Lewinsky’s to appreciate a cuddly little sperm friend! These crocheted Spermies are sold by Etsy shop Wonka’s Willy Factor and are both custom- and hand(job-)made. One Spermie is $13, a three-pack is $30, and both would be enough to get you pregnant (if they weren’t made out of yarn). What you choose to do with your Spermies are your choice. I suggest a colorful biology or sex ed session with a matching crochet dick. [Laughing Squid] Keep reading »
All the deep colors and sumptuous textures of fall clothes call for standout jewelry that doesn’t get lost in the mix. Jewelry carved from the fallen branches of Oregon pine trees, for example. This gorgeous pine pendant necklace from the wood art shop Turning Time allows you to bring a unique piece of nature into your wardrobe. Wear it on its own or layer it with a few metallic chains and stone pendants for a truly eclectic look. Then just sit back and let the “Where did you get your necklace?!” comments start rolling in… [$25, Etsy]
Squeezable stress balls and “Hang in there!” kitten posters are all fine and good, but what you really need in your office is a reminder of why you’re there, and who could better sum up the work/life balance than Parks & Rec‘s resident entrepreneur Tom Haverford? This gorgeous typography print of Tom’s wise words, “Sometimes you gotta work a little so you can ball a lot,” would look so fly hung up in a cubicle, framed in a corner office, or even tacked on the wall in a dorm room. Because no matter where you are in life, these words are always true. [$40, Paper Chat]
Looking for a unique gift idea or a truly unique piece of jewelry to add to your collection? Etsy seller Brittany Leigh has got you covered with her gorgeous custom handwriting necklaces. “This idea started after my grandmother died, and I wanted to make something for my mother to keep her close despite her absence,” she explains on her shop page. “But I also wanted it to be happy, and beautiful, and capture the essence of my grandmother. I found her handwriting translated all of these things in a wonderful way.”
How it works: you send Brittany a photo of the handwriting you want jewelry-fied, and she’ll create a custom design for you. You could have your handwriting turned into a necklace for your partner, turn a kid’s signature into a sweet gift for a mom (so cute!), or memorialize a loved one as Brittany did with her grandmother’s cursive (pictured above). Prices start at $125 for sterling silver pieces, but 14K gold is also available. So pretty. [Laughing Squid]
Yesterday, Julie sent me a link to this scale model of the house from “The Golden Girls,” I just immediately started crying with joy. It cost $175, but for that level of detail and the number of hours I would spend making my Dorothy paper doll shake her head at my Rose and Blanche paper dolls in the living room, and then serving tiny slices of cheesecake at the kitchen table while my Sophia doll told a funny story about her childhood in Sicily, it seemed like a total steal. Today, it’s sold out, and I’m crying for a different reason. See a couple more photos of this amazingly detailed masterpiece after the jump! [Etsy] Keep reading »
I recently bought myself a Dolly Parton prayer candle (because hello, it was $7 and I truly do view her as a powerful, sequined deity), and let me tell you: I’m pretty sure my repeated requests for for bigger hair and sassier comebacks are paying off. Since lighting it, I can even hit the high notes in “Jolene”! Hallelujah!
Just in case you’re also in need of some divine celebrity intervention, I decided to round up 10 celebrity prayer candles you can buy (including my precious Dolly), and an example of the prayer you might want to use for each one. Click on the gallery above to see how celebs like Saint Kanye, Mother Minaj, and Angel Bieber can help you achieve your dreams!
Earlier this week we did a roundup of 30 awesome wedding hairstyles, some of which were augmented with pretty clips, combs, or headbands. If you’ve been shopping for anything wedding related, you know the prices are jacked up to almost comical levels, and hair pieces are no exception (“Why is this plastic hair clip $300?” “Because it’s a bridal hair clip.”). If you’re looking for a unique hair accessory at a reasonable price, look no further than Etsy. We found these 12 vintage or handmade hair accessories for less than $50 a piece. Check out all the shopping details after the jump! Keep reading »
It’s summer! You know what you need? A bag that’ll store your laptop/wallet/mini-vodka bottles — you know, all your crap. A bag that will work on your shoulder, but also crossbody, so if you happen to be riding a bike with your bag, you won’t lose your balance and crash into a street sign (yes, that happened to me, whatever). Satchels are great for all that, and they make good overnight bags in a pinch. Plus, they have a cool “Indiana Jones” meets “Wall Street” vibe, no? Check out 12 of our Etsy faves, after the jump. Etsy seller Moneyworth snapped a screen shot of one of Kanye West’s amazing tweets — and put on a T-shirt. The tweet in question — Kanye helpfully explaining to us that his baby mama Kim Kardashian doesn’t appreciate him enough — deftly encapsulates Yeezy’s rather lofty impression of himself. Sadly, the shirt sold out 10 days ago (boo!), but the arrogant sentiment lives on. “Kim doesn’t understand what a blessing I am to her.” That really says it all, doesn’t it? [Etsy]
