When the colder seasons come around, we go into heavy hibernation mode, building blanket forts and watching movies and only leaving the house for work, medical emergencies and, if we’re feeling really motivated, food. Even though the leaves are falling and temperatures are cooling down, it’s never the wrong season for sunglasses. I say this as an admitted eyewear addict: the other day a friend of mine shifted slightly in the backseat of my car and was buried in a mini avalanche of sunglasses I’d been hoarding behind her headrest.
“Do you really need to keep mirrored Lolita shades with you at all times?” she asked, picking a hot pink pair out of the pile.

While I enjoy Etsy’s curated daily “Etsy Finds” emails — “Mad Men” style was a recent one, as was a nautical theme — I’m even more psyched that Etsy is branching off into even more niche email lists. “Etsy Fashion” is a daily newsletter of adorable treasures, such as all short-shorts or clutches, while “Etsy Weddings” is a weekly newsletter for all things nuptial-related, like invitations. Have you noticed any of your local vintage stores closing up shop lately? In a bit of an unexpected move, it’s apparently the little guys who are pushing out the bigger ones, largely due to independent Etsy sellers and eBay listings. Why? Shoppers have certainly become more fond of vintage shopping in the past few years, but can find far better prices online (“The prices on Etsy kill me,” says one shop owner) as well as more detailed product information.

We suppose weird, ahem, we mean original engagement rings are the thing du jour with all you “non-conformist” couples. Most of the accessories we see stay in the realm of design, but this bear tooth engagement ring is quite possibly more creepy. (The ones pictured are done in brass, but we were sure there was a real tooth version up earlier. Guess it sold out!) The inspiration behind the ring, by Etsy designer Blood Milk, is actually quite romantic. It was created out of a Grimm fairy tale in which Snow White shows kindness to a bear (who is really an imprisoned prince). After the spell is broken, the prince goes on to marry Snow White, so the ring symbolizes her love for the man even in his bear form.
