British soul singer Estelle knows a thing about two about dating. Her latest EP, “Love & Happiness Series Waiting To Exhale” is a diary filled with first date experiences. When we spoke to the songstress about her new project, she revealed some of the first date tips that help her get through the jitters. Check out her six quick tips on Hello Beautiful…
Singer Estelle will collaborate on a jewelry line with fashion designer Rachel Roy, whose clothing is demure and beautiful yet also alluring. Roy announced the deal via Twitter saying, “I am excited to work with @EstelleDarlings on a jewelry collection, which will debut in Spring 2010.” No details are available yet because the collection is still in its early development stages, says Roy’s spokesperson. We’re curious how the duo will merge Estelle’s high-glam, in-your-face style with Roy’s mysterious and refined aesthetic. But if you can’t have fun with your jewelry and accessories, then what’s the point of getting dressed? Estelle will be on hand to host the launch party for Roy’s pop-up shop, which opens Sept. 10, during New York Fashion Week. (You may remember that Estelle has honed her design skills during her collaborations with shoe designer Jonathan Kelsey and H&M.) Although Roy’s marriage to Damon Dash has failed, this collabo and the launch of Rachel Rachel Roy at Macy’s in August are spelling success for her brand. [WWD via Sassy Bella] Keep reading »
We’d like to think our I Wanna Dress Like: The Misfits inspired the outfit Estelle wore to DJ Cassidy’s birthday party. Good thing she didn’t clash like Pizzazz, Stormer, and Roxy were known to do. [NYC, 7/9/09] Keep reading »
It takes a lot for us to be excited by clothes designed by celebs (we blame you, Jessica Simpson), but we could really get behind, not to mention inside, any one of these tees designed to raise money for HIV/AIDS prevention projects. H&M and Designers Against AIDS asked a bunch of celebs we love, like Dita Von Tees, Yoko Ono and Estelle, to create T-shirts for the second annual Fashion Against AIDS Collection. Twenty-five percent of the profits on each tee sold will go to charities that help curb the spread of HIV.
And, of course, you’ll spread the safe sex message by wearing one. Cyndi Lauper’s tee reads, “Girls Just Want To Have Safe Sex,” and Estelle’s says “Life Is Too Short — Have Safe Sex.” Even Yoko Ono chimed with an “Imagine Peace” tee, which doesn’t have anything to do with safe sex, really, but what the hell, she’s Yoko Ono. The tees go on sale in 1,000 stores at H&Ms in 30 countries and at DesignersAgainstAIDSShop.com on May 28. [Designers Against AIDS] Keep reading »
